White Cooper Clubman facelift

Hi all

I know it's a bit early for a face lift but I think the clubman would greatly benefit from the following(sorry not going to get started on the door front):-
1. Fully adjustable seat backs. Not just 2 positions one which is the norm and one where I would feel sorry for any body that had to sit in it.
2. Tumbling removable split seats
3. Somewhere to store the flat load floor when it's not used maybe in a bag or cover so you can put the parcel shelf in there as well.
4. Reverse activated wipers.
5. Two reversing lights not just one candle.
6. External spare wheel storeage.
7. Change the rear wipers round so they don't meet in the middle and let the dirty water run down on to the door handles.
Think that's all for now .

Hi Balmy1 I would add a permanent position for the rear wipers as the interval wipe is useless in heavy rain. Also I would change the rear boot cover. the one offered is useless.Ive thrown mine in the garage as I havethe darkened glass so no one can see in.Dont move the side door I love it and the grandchildren can get in and out easily I would never allow anyone to get out of the car, 3 or 5 doors on a busy road

I'm not sure I'd want all the changes suggested:

1. Fully adjustable seat backs. Not just 2 positions one which is the norm and one where I would feel sorry for any body that had to sit in it.
I've never needed to set the rear seat backs to the forward position so I don't think I'd want to pay a higher price for that.

2. Tumbling removable split seats
Like a Jazz? Yes please - and with a Jazz-style roller blind!

3. Somewhere to store the flat load floor when it's not used maybe in a bag or cover so you can put the parcel shelf in there as well.
Never felt a need for this.

4. Reverse activated wipers.
They are! And they're fine as they are IMHO.

5. Two reversing lights not just one candle.
Yes please.

6. External spare wheel storeage.
Not for me.

7. Change the rear wipers round so they don't meet in the middle and let the dirty water run down on to the door handles.
Fine as they are IMHO.

White Cooper hi

I had 1 and 2 in my mitsi colt and used this quite a lot when we went on holiday especially when we had suit cases in the back and we had 2 passingers in as well. The mitsi also had sliding seats as well this was useful, but with the rear leg room being limited as it is I didn't think there would be much benefit from this in a mini.I think number 3 because the only place in the car to store them is behind the front seats or length ways if you have the seats folded or as I do take them out and leave them in the garage.as for the wipers mine don't work when i select reverse.

Trouble is, all those things would cost extra and none are things I would bother about.

However there is no reason some of them could not be offered as extras.

When I read the title, my first thought was that you wanted to put a square front-end on like the original clubman. Thanks. I needed the laugh.

Sold the Cooper. Now driving the Traveller. I mean Clubman.

Aparently same story here but I have not experienced the rattle my wife insists is there from behind the dash area. Never happens when I use the car at weekends My R56 didn't get the dash rattle until month 10 and 10K miles .. Had it successfully fixed a few weeks ago ... I hope it stays that way too

Yes i suppose so but they were all free in my £7000 mitsi and I'm supprised BMW hasn't come up with the idea of charging you for actually using your car and making that an extra as well.

All I would ask for is a better rear boot cover, it is REALLY pathetic, annoys the hell out of me. Why can't it just roll back like a roller blind? When you want to put something in the boot that is slightly higher than the cover, you end up wrestling with it, trying to push it back, giving up and then detaching it and chucking it over into the rear seats. Plus, as I sometimes have to leave a laptop in my car (with all the insurance issues that brings), why not make the bottom cover/shelf thingy lockable in some way.

1. Fully adjustable seat backs. Not just 2 positions one which is the norm and one where I would feel sorry for any body that had to sit in it.

Really do they do that?

2. Tumbling removable split seats

Nah too much effort.

3. Somewhere to store the flat load floor when it's not used maybe in a bag or cover so you can put the parcel shelf in there as well.

I use the garage for this but a bag would be nice maybe an option.

4. Reverse activated wipers.

They do go full time when in reverse and what happens if its not raining squeak squeak.

5. Two reversing lights not just one candle.

Reverse lights are a bit poop.

6. External spare wheel storeage.

Not got one not bothered although not a fan of external systems far too grubby kneeling on the floor when its wet and cold. Also apreciate the extra storage the empty wheel well gives me

7. Change the rear wipers round so they don't meet in the middle and let the dirty water run down on to the door handles.

Petty and silly.

I would have to say costs though dont want the price any higher not all of us lavish 20k on our MINIs and then expect 20K standards on a 14K car.

Can't say if this is gospel yet, but just heard that the roof rack for the Clubman may be going through some changes. I've posted on the never ending roof rack thread.

First love: MC CVT Indi Blue/White '04
Past MINI: MC CVT PW/Black '06
Present MINI: MCa Clubman BRG/BLK '08

Interesting list of options for a facelift model - good thread!
My thoughts on your suggestions so far...:

1. Fully adjustable seat backs. Not just 2 positions one which is the norm and one where I would feel sorry for any body that had to sit in it.
Agree, nice thought, although I think the easy and quick way they get to vertical backs is useful - wouldn't want to lose that
2. Tumbling removable split seats
Not sure that this would be achievable without adding a) more size to the seats (removing headroom/legroom and/or bootspace, or b) cost. If it is though, bring it on!
3. Somewhere to store the flat load floor when it's not used maybe in a bag or cover so you can put the parcel shelf in there as well.
Definitely - constantly having to remove the parcel shelf and/or boot floor due to regular tuba lugging and other baby associated paraphernalia.
4. Reverse activated wipers.
Mine come on full time when reverse selected on they're already on intermittent
5. Two reversing lights not just one candle.
Indeed - the single 'candle' is pathetic!
6. External spare wheel storeage.
Not for me - like the clean(ish) lines of the back unspoilt
7. Change the rear wipers round so they don't meet in the middle and let the dirty water run down on to the door handles.
Good thought - it does annoy me a little, especially the day after I've cleaned it!

8. Agree with pertyb about a decent roller luggage/boot cover.

Additional thoughts from me:

9. Better seal design around Clubdoor to stop it being so noisy at speed.
10. Dipping wing mirrors on reverse, and standard fit rear parking sensors (I'm a gadget lover!).
11. Availability of side stripes like those available for the R56 - just a bit longer!
12. Standard fit 'tray' for the bit under the centre console, not optional as at present.
13. An attached 'flop-out' boot bumper cover - mine is scratched already
14. A better location/angle for the washer fluid reservoir - my Dooper is difficult to get at without spilling everywhere
15. Availbility of MINI fitted rear sun-blinds - I miss my previous gen-Cooper hatch ones
16. Better 'Hi-Fi' sound system - the current top of the range MINI one is a bit weak and lifeless.

That's enough for now...!
