White Cooper Beware

Hi all
A cautionary tale be carefull what might be hiding behind the join in the club doors. Today
while traveling quite away through a 40 mph speed limit I glanced at my side mirror and found a police car traveling behind me,looked in rear view mirror and he was gone.So I adjusted my speed to the right side of 40 and carried on hopefully he wasn't looking for speeding clubmans,he followed me for quite a while but to my relief he turned off. So be warned you never know what might be lurking there.

^^^ What he said.

Try not speeding, less fear of police vehicles that way.

If you were only doing 42 then you had nothing to worry about anyway, a slight incline or decline can ping you a tiny bit over or under.

I can't stand it when police follow you anyway, even when you KNOW you've done nothing wrong it's strangely unnerving!

If your speedo said you were doing 42mph,and its anything like mine and over-reads by 5%, you were actually doing exactly 40mph. Therefore there was no problem.

I find it annoying that the speedo over-reads. I would much rather know my true speed.

Isn't that the truth? It makes me very tense - I much prefer to be behind them. Preferably well behind!

How do you know that your speedo over-reads?

Are we not missing the point here folks? Surely the point being made is this; As the Clubman rear doors block your view through the rear view mirror, always check twice before carrying out any braking or turning manouvres.

I once had one follow me for 22 miles... Even being good, it does put you on edge a little bit.
"Ok, must stay exactly in the middle of the lane or he'll think I'm drunk/stoned/elderly&female/etc..."
Actually, I think he was probably just going my way rather than 'following me'.

Just kidding about that elderly lady comment, by the way.

Buy a portable satnav and use the accurate GPS speedo on those and sure enough, you'll see that your speedo over-reads. My MINI speedo over-reads by about 5%.

I don't find the door blind spot an issue, certainly no worse than some other cars, Alfa GT, Honda Civic etc. Mind you I'm used to having a Border Collie's head obscuring the view.
