My MCCa is now living a "charmed" life - we've now hit the third time..that it shall be going in. I think that counts and should now allow my shifter to be fixed? Sure hope so.

Thanks dakini, perhaps shortly there will be a recall for this, though I guess it depends upon the numbers.

My vehicle is going in for the 4th time with this gear shaped warning. I have had my mini for 5 months and this will be the fifth time it has gone in for service since May. They replaced my shifter mechanism and it held up for maybe a month and the symbol came on again. I asked (emailed) my SA and said when will MINI USA say enough is enough and give me a new car. I did not get no response. I am getting to the point where I am ready to trade this car in,

A fellow over on NAM posted about a new bulletin that was released about this issue. The simplest thing to do is start reading here: MINI COOPER :: North American Motoring - Amber Gear icon showing... sometimes scroll down and you will see what I'm talking about.

It certainly would be helpful to know the bottom line on this recurring issue that seems to be effecting a number of 2008 Clubmen, including my own.

It is just not the Clubmans that are affected by this I have a MINI Cooper base model and have been having the problem since May. I only had my car one month and it started having problems. I know I put down 4 times for service but I was wrong it is actually 6 and I picked up my MINI on April 25, so it wasn't even a month.

True, forgive me - but since we're in the Clubman forum, I lost my head. I think there's actually another thread in the other faults and fixes forum...if memory serves me.

Do you remember your MINI's birthdate? Apparently it may be related to certain production times.
