Scared skinny

Just become a member of this forum. After reading all the posts and threads in here with the many and various problems owners are experiencing with their cars, and also reading of the dismal J D Power report on the Clubman; the prospect of running costs on my 10 month old MCS Clubman is scaring me skinny!

Not sure what you're talking about wrt JD Power - they actually don't list very much on the Clubman except for MPG ranking (#4).

In the forums, I haven't come acrossed anyone that had a specific issue that wasn't covered by warranty....

Welcome to MINI2 and I wouldn't worry yourself. Go out and enjoy driving the clubman.

JD Powers rates all MINI models; hatch, conv. and wagon as thay call it.
Not uplifting reading for a so called premium brand, must hope for the best though, and it is a nice drive. Only time will tell if I should have gone for the Type-R instead.

Warranty only lasts two years in Norway, with one bonus year of goodwill from BMW-Norway. I plan to keep the car longer though...

Fingers crossed!

Just remember that people tend to come out of the woodwork to post on Internet boards about problems...often because they're searching for answers. In addition, with a new version there often are kinks that need to be worked out. My bet is that the 2009 Clubman will be even better than the 2008 when it comes to the little stuff that has been off for some owners.

There are many more satisfied customers than dissatisfied - and here's to your being one of them!

JD Powers

Thanks OTRA! Agree, suppose this is THE place for support for problems.

Interesting. Since I actually filled out one of those JD Powers surveys, I'm very surprised. I had only one negative thing to report - the clubdoor cable needed to be replaced. I would love to see a sampling of the surveys that gave it such negative reports.

Not sure what else to say. I think the quality of my Clubman is very good. Yes, I've had a couple of minor issues - which surprised me because I'd not had any that I can remember with my two previous MINIs. I've chalked up my minor issues to its being a brand new version.

Are you familiar with MotoringFile » Archive » Upcoming MotoringFile Reviews, you might find it a helpful and interesting site. They're planning their own review of the Clubman soon.
