vanos solenoid

Has anyone's Vanos solenoid gone faulty yet? They are supposed to last for 75k. Mine went at 45k. On replacement they put new valves with a "gauze" to stop all the crap.

Hey George - Mine has gone bad. Can you give me any info to help me? Did you have any other related problems? How did they know it was the vanos solenoid valve? How'd they fix it? How does it just go bad? Any info will be appreciated. Does not seem to be much posted any where! Thank you!

Now there is a coincidence. My 21 month old Clubbie put up a yellow engine warning light two weeks ago. I stayed on for 18 miles (too and from work) but went off before the dealer would take it on Monday morning. As it had gone off I drove 180 miles over the weekend with no problem. When the dealer investigated he said - the solonoid controling the gasses was faulty. On line investigation suggests that this is the solonoid in question. No cost - under warranty and less than a day in the shop. So I hope yours is not a big problem or expensive or will stop you driving sort of problem…..

In summery

No other problem

Car drove fine

Fix was quick
