Major engine problems
I bought a lease return Mini Clubman S in 04/2011 and the dealer missed to mention something now dramatic to me: A Clubman S can use up to 1L oil per 1000KM.
Well, I learned my lesson.
After 5k KM the timing chain jumped. The BMW dealer told me: There was no oil in the engine.
I told him, I just bought the car and it had full service. Well BMW insurance covered the damage.
after 30k KM the first service came along, oil change air filter and some more easy things.
I picked up the car and couldn't belive what I experienced!!!
- The engine smoked when tunred on
- no stable motor idle
- no more smooth driving, it feels like the engine is choking
I brought the Mini back and they checked the engine, report:
- valves burned
- cylinder damaged
- basically: I need a new engine
Well, I understand that I ran the engine dry 30k KM ago, but the car never showed any sign of problems.
Why in the world after a "simple" service the car acts up completely???
This happend now 1,5 years ago and I still have a engine that is basically screwed up.
After I stopped using BMW oil as I received free refills, the performance increased, but never recovered back to normal.
What I need to do nowadays to make sure, the idle is somewhat stable and the car runs somewhat smooth when I turn it on:
I start the engine and wait approx 30 seconds, after that, the rpms jump up a little bit and the idle state is more stable and the engine can be driven now.
If I don't wait and start driving right away, the engine chokes like crazy.
Anyone having any idea what it could be?
Do I really need a new/used engine?
Does anyone know a good mechanic around Munich Germany?
Sorry, I won't step my foot anymore into a BMW dealer ship as they made me really mad.
thanks for your reply
P.S. I love the Mini and thats why I didn't scrap it yet, but it gets to a point where I would love to enjoy it again when I drive it.
