Road noise?

I was just wondering what the road noise is like with the top up? I pick mine up the end of this week and I can't wait! I didn't test drive the convertible, that is why I was wondering.

Thanks!

It's not too bad. I can hear cars and trucks in my blind spot, so that's a plus. The top is pretty tight so the noise is pretty minimal (for a rag top). With the sunroof section open, the noise is much greater.

I find it is a bit noisy with the top up from the rear where there are no windows, just fabric between you and the rest of the world. There is some tire noise from the rear there. It isn't terrible but in many respects it seems most quiet with the top down which is how I normally motor, no matter what the temperature. Having just the sunroof open is the noisiest of all though.

Driving to work this morning I was thinking about this thread. I decided to listen for road noise and to my suprise: I couldn't hear any over the radio!!!

The problem is solved. Just when my uncle (the mechanic) used to tell me... If you hear that squeeking noise coming off your brakes you have 2 choices. Pay to have it fixed or turn the radio up so you don't hear it.

I don't really notice it, it's certainly not excessive anyway

I agree with everything he said, and I'd add that the engine sounds are more clear with the top up. It can be drowned out slightly by wind with the top down (or completely with the sunroof open.. worst mode EVER)

But when I wanna feel like a race driver, i leave the top up and the music down so that all i hear is glorious engine noise

(not that often i swear!!)

Anyone putting loud intakes or exhausts on their convertibles? OK? Too much? JCW Cooper sound kit or JCW S kit? I know Rakey has the Works. Is it too much after a while or a joy every time?
