I read that the convertible MINI will continue into production until 2009, with the R56 models only coming out for the S, Cooper and then the One...

This means that the if you order an S Cabriolet in 2007, you'll be getting the supercharged one, not the turbo one?

Am I correct?

Yes. Unless of course you stipulate that you want the 2009 model. It is customary for BMW to keep producing its cabrio models for at least 2 years after the introduction of a new series.

I need more help and you veterans can probably point me in the right direction. I have tried to find it with thread searches and google.com but no luck.

I need a "what's the latest on the Convertible Mini" for dummies thread, lol! Seriously, would someone be so kind please to explain what convertible model MINI is selling now as the 2007 edition vs what is planned for the future possibly 2009 (I hope not

) I truly appreciate your thoughtful input, thank you.

there is no new news on the next gen convertible at the moment, the only thing we know is that it will be replaced and that we expect it to be towards the end of 2008

best guesses say that it will be a 4 seater fabric roofed convertible just as the present car but with the roof work done by a different vendor than the current roof.

Just read the entire thread on the exploding rear glass problem with 'some' of the MINI Owners. Sounds like the problem has not recurred as frequently with the 2006 build of the MCSC. If the new vendor for the roof on the 2007/2008 build can get past this issue, the cabrio will be even more enticing to own. Either way, I am so set on getting a MCS Cabrio when the new ones come out.

Not a chance. There is nowhere near enough room in the R56 for this without totally losing the rear seats, which MINI have categorically stated they are not willing to do.

That issue only affected a very small batch of early roofs and has not appeared now for some time....

Also the folding metal roof option will not be used due to size and weight constraints...

Won't be hard.... take a current S convertible, photochop on the new front end and side grilles, expand the rear a bit... et voila! Exclusive!
