Offline | Better way to install Multivex mirrors? I got a passenger side Multivex mirror the other day for my new MINI. But I am not too kean on installing it, for cosmetic reasons. It'd be helpful but it certainly isn't great looking. So I was examining the MINI's side mirror today and wondered why I couldn't just remove the stock mirror and put the Multivex mirror in its place. It'd look SO much nicer. So has anyone done this, or considered it? |

Online | I don't think there is any need to worry about appearance. Nobody will ever notice. Here is how it looks with the mirror at its most exposed angle (you'll never have the mirror in this position). I used black caulking, which I think blends well. http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...d=11580840 97 http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...d=11580840 97 See this thread for comments on installation: MINI COOPER :: North American Motoring - No More Blind Spot! |

Offline | once you've stuck them on, would they be easy to remove later? or would it be a case of removing and getting OEM replacements i'm tempted because i find with the tinted windows i am less aware of the cars in my peripheral vision - but i'm not convinced i would find the distortion at the edge of the mirror distracting - or at the least, confusing as i try to reverse into my parking space -- --- |

Online | The Multivex mirror is easy to remove. I decided to use Multivex only on the passenger side, and I easily removed it from the driver side mirror. I commented about it in the thread referenced above. Pull dental floss through the gap to cut through the double stick tape. This is a common technique for removing things attached with double stick tape. The distortion is not an issue for parking. I find it only an issue for judging distance of moving objects. For example, you want to change lanes but a car is in the other lane coming up behind you. It is a little trickier than with a standard mirror to decide how fast it is moving and whether you can proceed or should let the other car pass first. |
