Offline | Rocket tyres I have covered about 19000 miles in mini now and it is time to get another set of front tyres. I only seem to manage 9000 miles on the fronts so this will be my 3rd set since new. I have been using Pirelli 175/65/r15 as fitted to coopers at the factory. I am not heavy footed and i do check my pressures but this rate of wear is pathetic. (this is especially the case on the nearside) At £50 per tyre i am reluctant to buy pirelli again- my local tyre monkeys can only source these. Have you used any alternatives? i have seen some budget "kumho" tyres on numerous websites but i'm a little dubious as i haven't heard of them before. Thanks in advance. Simon |

Online | 9000 miles from fronts in a front wheel drive car with 115hp isn't too bad.... and at £50 a pop you can't complain. I get less than that from my fronts, and if I went OEM I'd be looking at £150 each ![]() Stick to decent tyres too... cheap tyres are just that... cheap. You get what you pay for at the end of the day, and when the tyres have such an important role to play in terms of hazard avoidance/braking, I'd only buy the best. ![]() |

Offline | Pirellis are poo for wear...especially runflat versions. Try using Falkens, you'll get better grip in both dry and wet...better ride and they only cost about £65 and mine were lasting about 14k on the Cooper. I have these fitted to my S now (F452s) so we shall see how they fare on the S with about 180bhp + running through them. |

| Impatient for R57! | I absolutely agree with minicabrio - when you are hurtling around in your car, you rely on 4 areas of rubber, each not much bigger than the palm of your hand, to hold you to the road. There are many better places to save a few quid than your tyres! Ian |
