Hi, first post......!!

I've just ordered a Mini One convertible for delivery March 1st (07 plate)...Can anyone tell me the series of engine it will be? Is it a R52 or R53?

Hi,

Not to split hairs, but the R52 is generic MINI Convertible (One/Cooper/S) and the R53 is MINI Cooper S only.

If I'm reading your question rightly, you want to know if the engine will be as per the older generation (R50) or the new Hatch (R56).

The engine for the new Hatch won't fit in the current Convertible body, therefore, it will be the original 1.6 "Pentagon" Engine (90BHP) that will be fitted in your new MINI One Convertible.

The R numbers are model designation rather than engine...

R50 = 1st gen hatch (one and cooper)
R52 = convertible (one, cooper, or cooper s)
R53 = 1st gen Cooper S hatch

The engines are designated W10 for the one/cooper and W11 for the Cooper S.
