It's a possibility - not confirmed either which way though!

Was it Auto Express per chance?

MINI | Auto Express News | News | Auto Express

Being Auto Express, you have to read between the lines sometimes.
The lines I read between are the one before and the one after where it mentions that all engines will be available and an auto box available throughout the engine range.

As Harpo says, we will never know until we start seeing more test mule convertibles on the streets.

The New Cooper D does have a built in particulate filter, so there's no black dust emitted from the exhaust, and less of the 'diesel smell' - so in theory it could lend itself well to a cabrio version.

BMW already manufacture diesel versions of its 3-series soft top, although the length of the car takes exhaust gasses well away from the driver

I think it is very likely there will be a cooper d convertible. If they can keep emmisssions down to less than 120g/km it will sell very very well............

Sign me up!

I want another Cabrio, but the miles I do with my new job lead me in the direction of a diesel car. Also, (please don't laugh) I want to tow a small trailer when we go on our camping holidays, so the extra torque would be ideal.......

Even I'd consider it Ian.... the Minx has racked up 52000 miles now, and she was only 3 years old last month! I'd have saved a fortune in a diesel....

But lifes too short to worry about fuel consumption

Tut tut! What about doing your bit for the environment?

All this global warming should be good news for cabrio owners everywhere, so how come this summer has been practically non-existent? (But on the bright side, my roof has been down so seldom this year that the fabric wear issue is a non-issue......)
