Convertible Mini One Diesel

Has anyone ever thought of cutting the lid of their Mini One Diesel?

Just wondered what the implications are? The costs involved? Also, is it wise when coming to eventually sell her?

I wouldn't think you can

As the convertible has got much more in the way of body strengthening etc

And then there would be the insurance implication...

Putting a diesel lump in a convertible is probably easier that cutting the roof off a hatch.

Some of the bodywork (main shell) on the cabriolets is about 2-3 times thicker than a normal hard-top shell in places, plus other differences

Insurance! , why does barge-pole come to mind .

Best way about it if thats what you really want to do it (have a Diesel cab) .

You'd be better with an S as a base to start with as the battery is in the boot on a diesel as with the S you'll probably get a couple of thousand £££££ for the engine, gearbox, drive-shafts etc... etc.... which will have to go toward replacement diesel parts (scrapper MINI D) .

You'd have to inform the DVLA that the MINI has been radically altered (if you chopped the roof off) and then it would need checking and if it wasn't done right you could lose it if it's not done properly, by this I mean they would condemn it (scrap ).

The cost doesn't bear thinking about £££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££!.

Mine's the one on the left.
