Offline | Cabrio will be available in Cooper S form Latest magazine article states the new Mini Cabrio due out in UK May 2004, will be available in Cooper S form. 4 seats, roll-over hoops behind rear seats, electric hood with glass rear window and 10 second retract time. So, with the Cooper S works package it will be possible to have a 200bhp Mini Cabrio - can't wait! |

![]() MINI2 Master | I guess the only thing to be wary of will be the additional weight added to the car by doing the cabrio thing. Will a stiffer suspension setup be available to counter the roll and scuttle shake? I also wonder what this weight will do to the 0-60 time? I guess we'll just have to wait! |

Offline | Article quoted BMW as saying that as the stucture of the car is so rigid to begin with, they do not anticipate any scuttle shake - reading between the lines, I take it to mean that BMW will not tollerate any scuttle shake! As far as I know, the only strenghtening they are adding is to the A-pillar for roll-over protection. So main extra weight will be in the roof mechanisim. In any case, it will be interesting to see how it all turns out - especially as I already have one on order! ![]() |

Offline | I should imagine that the roof mechanism will be fairly light as it is going to be a 'wire' controlled roof as opposed to the normal hydraulic method, i've put a deposit on an Open and can't wait! MINIALEX Cometh the Hour, Cometh the MINI |

Offline | I just put a deposit on my Mini Open on Saturday! The salesman said his manager had just returned from a Mini Open meeting where he learned that the top would be manual and they did not have a confirmation that it would be offered as an S. I'm not sure how reliable he is, but he seemed to know what he was talking about. Pete |

Offline | It's automatic folding as far as I know. About 10 seconds most places seem to claim on MINI's behalf. From the information your dealer gave you on the PSA Peugeot/Citroen built engine, I'd say he's not the best source. I've also seen some photo's of a convertible 'S' that appeared genuine in a magazine. |

Offline | Sweet! I'd prefer the auto roof. I also had the salesman write Cooper S on my deposit form. So if they make them, I am definitely getting the S. Do you know if that pic is a prototype or a conversion? Pete |

| CVT is gone, S hole now.. | It's nice to find some other people online who like the styleing on the Open. I am #51 on my dealers Cooper S Open list. The Cooper list goes around the block. I just hope they offer it in the Metalic Orange. Convertable General Lee, only with a Union Jack. Brings up the intresting question of puting decals or some kind of color process on the soft top. Anyone know if this has been done before? -Technomage turned due to CVT problemsNow Stylein in MCS CR/W All options except NAV and PDC. Garmin 2610 NAV. Offline | How much heavier are these going be? And what about chassis flex? I guess those who buy these are not worried about such things as performance. I can see a ONE or a COOPER, but an 'S' convertable,. . .Come on. . . |

Offline | Yup - it's true. Automatic Roof (in Black only at the moment - I will only order one if they do a white roof!!), and available in Cooper S form as well. Seen the official papers that give this information!! Due in Europe May/June 2004 as things stand at the moment. Someone from BMW has ordered one of these already - complete with JCW conversion. Imagine that - a JCW Mini Open S..... I feel a new car coming on....! MINI Going.....Toyota Supra RZ-S Twin Turbo Coming....Standing Quarter, anyone....? |
