Just saw my 1st picture of the new covertable with the roof up - looks very "bread vanny" (UPS van to all you Yanks) and the rear vision must be a piece of cr@p. i guess they are going after the Golf cabriolette market.

they did say that a 2 seat speedster version was now being considered for 2004/5 with the roof going under a tonneau to avoid the pram look and that might be a hoot if it's anything like the one in the MINI book.

They have been working on a hard top for just about as long as a soft top, but the soft's won so far. Shame, the hard top sounded like it was really cool.

There's pics on here if you look around with the roof up, I too was unimpressed.

Ya, I too have been unimpressed with the convertible. It remainds me of the Pontiac Firefly convertible when the top is down. When the top it looks no worse than any other soft top which is pretty bad. I'd of loved to see a folding hard top.
