Offline | Not that we didn't know this.. but it's nice to have an official BMW press release on the subject! See: http://www.mini2.com/news/news163.html ![]() |

| MINI2 Master | Confirming one of the worst-kept secrets... MINI Cooper Cabrio: now the car with go cart handling really feels like an open go cart! Offline | Funilly enough, to me, Trevor Houghton-Berry was the only person there not taking the official line of 'what cabrio'. He said if there were any they'd be well out of our way. ![]() |

Offline | i just got my MINI - & the only reason i got the MC is 'cos i'm holding out for the cabrio in 2005 - & don't want to "waste" too much money for now from various sites - it seems there would be an "S" variety anyone heard about the mechanism for the top - certainly am not expecting Z4 type build - but would be nice if it wasn't entirely manual (like the miata) as well. heard it was some "cable & pulley" system.... ![]() |

Offline | Everything I have heard indicates an autamatic system, 10 seconds to fold. Cool. I don't think MINI/BMW could afford to offer a manual system. That would be a real let down on a 'quality' car like the MINI, and give the Beetle 1 up on the MINI. I don't think BMW would like that. |

Offline | that sounds good! wonder if the old MG roots will play a part? ie will they be using a design that's similar to that on the MGF? i suppose not - as the folks in Bavaria would want their very own designs.. |

| MINI2 Senior | I am now ready to learn. So, how can ya tell that that pic isn't a real BMW cabrio? If it's purely because they haven't actually made any prototypes... or is there something more "tricky" to it? Jug Last edited by JugMan : May 25th, 2003 at 09:37 AM. |
