Offline | Convertible to be made in Italy According to the AutoExpress today there is a chance that the New MINI Convertible could be produced by Pinninfarina in Italy alongside the Ka. Apparently Oxford is struggling to keep up with demand as it is - any thoughts I'm not sure whether its a good thing or a bad thing, MINIALEX Cometh the Hour, Cometh the MINI |

Offline | I thought BMW were going to expand Oxford as the MINI demand grew. How can a MINI be a MINI if it's being *******ised by the Italians and the production will dribble out compared to the hard working Brits current performance. Can't see it happening or rather hope it doesn't. Can you imgine Alfa's being made in UK etc etc Too many freaks not enough circuses Tell a man that there are 400 billion stars and he'll believe you. Tell him a bench has wet paint and he has to touch it. |

Offline | Does it really matter where it is actually assembeled? It'll be the same desigers, same machines and maybe even some british workers just the factory in a different location! Maybe im wrong but i dont think the location of where it is assembeled makes a difference, but if were actually being designed and completly made by the italians that would be a different story! |

Offline | I'll get the wife to ask the guys when she goes on the factory tour on the 25th... they wouldn't say anything in May, but then it hadn't 'officially' been confirmed then ![]() |

Offline | Far East I heard that too, apparently all production is moving over there in a couple of years and thr shape is going to change. According to a good sauce the body shell will be shared with the toyota Yaris. |

Offline | I did say in the original thread that it was only a chance but they must of got it from somewhere unless they just made it up - perhaps its something their considering because of how busy the factory is! Cometh the Hour, Cometh the MINI |

Offline | It wouldn't be the first time. From years of following the motoring press, and in particular the MINI press coverage, a lot of stuff I have to assume is completely made up, and a lot is made from taking a lot of guesses based on possible situations. Some (and only a small amount), is based on good facts and inside information. Still hasn't stopped me buying the mags though. ![]() |
