| I can feel it | Auto Express 9th-15th July Issue 763 Page 30 'Pilot production of the new MINI Open convertible is being disrupted. The cause of the interruptions isn't technical problems or strikes, but the hordes of eager MINI fans who are flocking to the Cowley plant to see the model being built. Each time a group arrives, the secret drop-top has to be hidden from view by halting the line and covering cars up.' I think this was mentioned on feedback from the factory tour on 25th June - Max & co ![]() |

Offline | Can't remember seeing any evidence of it on the tour we went on 20th June, Lorraine can you? Looks like they did a pretty good job of hiding it away, or perhaps that's the REAL reason why we couldn't go in the paintshop!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Lorraine - didn't realise you were on that tour. We'd swapped notes a coupla times in these forums. Did you bring your Mum, by any chance? I've since found out that on MINI runs name badges are issued, which prevents all that awkward "I'm stupid name, who are you?" business. (If you check on the tour thread you will see that those of us at the front were quickly ushered back from the last section we looked at 'cos they were timing stuff to do with the cabrio). | cook pass babtridge | i can't understand what the problem is myself. they already make sure no-one has any photography equipment before you head out on the tour & wheres the harm in letting a handfull of enthusiasts get a sneak half look at the new car? what are we going to do - sketch it?! |
