Chatting to my GF last night (as all good Boyfriends should once in a while) and she is adamant she saw a Mini Open on the M3 yesterday morning (followed it between Fleet and Winchester services). Here is the run down on what she saw:

1) Black with black cloth roof
2) Cooper exhaust
3) No model inscription
4) No crome line (totally black)
5) Large chunky hinges at the bottom(

) of the boot - like the old mini, in body colour
6) Reg no started OW03
7) Hood was up
8) Being driven by a 'normal' looking bloke

No sign of any deflective patterns on the car.

So what do we think is this a conversion or has my missus actually seen an Open? (and I wasn't in the car

)

It could have been a Metro convertible.. they look the same!

Actually - could have been an Open, we used to live in Warwick and saw loads of MINIs out testing LOOOONG before they were released.

Sounds like the real deal and it's not the first. The bottom hinges on the boot is something you couldn't miss if you saw one in the flesh. From what I've seen though they're 'retro' but a bit too big maybe?

Thats exactly what Jules said, she described them as 'really chunky'.

She said it looked really smart in the flesh, for al those who are on waiting lists!!

Interesting, I saw my first new beetle conv with its hood up and thought they'd made a really good job of it, I still think it looks naff with the roof down and the "pram" effect of the folded hood !...

I cant wait to see my first "open" MINI in the flesh !!!... have already asked my dealer to let me know when and if they get a Demo !
