I've been hassling MINI as usual and they've told me the MINI Convertible range will be called...........

MINI Convertible.

Wow, that's an unusual name

Do you think many people will realise? If I start talking about the new MINI "Convertible" will people give me funny looks and not know what I'm talking about?

I'm fed up with Car manufacturers giving things weird names

I do wonder how many man hours and how much cash it cost to come to that decision.

It was never called 'Open', that was just a name it got given by the media

They probably got some external consultant to come in and think it up

and paid them a fortune for it.

reminds me of my state (Pennsylvania), where they spent
MILLIONS of $ to come up with a slogan:
Pennsylvania, where memories last a lifetime

and now the current slogan (also took a similar consultant fee to come up with) is :

You've got a friend in Pennsylvania

If they just asked me, I would have come up with Something, ANYthing way
better for $60K or so!! (hey, that's only $10K a word)

'Open' is a waaaaay cooler name. Boy I sure hope they don't end up with 'Cabrio'....

MINI Open, or Mini Open Classic was a model/range of old Minis with the full length webasto sunroof. This is I imagine where the press got that idea from.

MINI Convertible is the name I have been told officially by MINI press/media in the UK.
