Yes, on this one its not a chrome cap, there are technicalites involved with the roof mechansims, you do'nt want fuel sloshing around in the car - see the "do MINI's explode thread"

Are you better yet?

Paul-- You mentioned that you saw the interior... I notice there are two guages on the steering column--did the convertible have navigation or the new "chrono" type guages in the center? Any other notable differences in the interior?

Yep, body coloured mirror caps, very nice.

To be totally honest I didn't look at the centre dial/column area! I looked at all the chrome (very nice) and checked if the dash was the new one or not, I completely forgot about the new dials otherwise I would have checked that out more closely!

I was paying more attention to the rear of the car when I could.

We didn't get too long to stare and try and get close because they really didn't like people paying that much attention!

An example of the usual situation can be seen here:

Thanks, but was Lewis who got "the shot".

If I had time again, I would have just walked up with the high quality digicam (the one I snapped the long range shots with), and snapped away all over the uncovered car, then legged it! But at the time we of course didn't know how the day would unfold.

Was a pretty surreal experience all in all.

maybe its just me but i really don't like those wheels...the spokes are too fat and a bit too BMW for me! I really think a 17inch verson of the works alloys would be lovely!! But as always thats IMHO!!

The colour is ok...its not blow me away special though...maybe nicer in real life...i would love a metallic orange or a reall metallic purple as in alpina BMW.

but hey ho new stuff thats out before the want us to know always makes it seem more exciting!!

The colour is much more dramatic in the flesh. Not sure how it would look dirty, but the grey/blue pearl tints were very effective, really highlight the lines of the car well as you walk around it.

Shots were taken while the car was at a place called Moorfields, literally as we came out of the tube at one of the stops (Moorgate), there it was!

The photos were taken yesterday.
