It also appeared to be a new colour interior (the seats). They were blue/black leather, but it seemed darker blue than lapis, but I cant be sure.

You should have just walked up to it and taken photos Paul - its a free country and they were in a public place, what could they do? Beat you up? Steal your camera - not the kind of publicity BMW would want. Seriously, they get these goons in to put the frightners on people, they really can't do anything.

Great work though, nice to see things being spiced up on the colour front. Mini's were starting to get boring.... ARRRRRhhh did I just think that aloud?????

It was the quality of shots, and later opportunities that put us off snapping away when it was mobbed by people/security, not how they would react.

Excellent work, Paul and Lewis! Do we owe a vote of thanks to TREBALZ, as well? He was the other lucky one! It seems guerilla MINI owners have all the photos lately, and most seem to be for commercials, something which MINIUSA has been reluctant to use. Wonder if the marketing angle will change, or will they be web only? All in all, the best looking drop-top coupe since the li'l Zuk/Geo Metro.

I was in the area long before TREBALZ post was made. It was an earlier tip off I got.

Love the colour - not sure about the wheels though. I think that might be the colour of my next Mini (October '05).

Wonderful scoop Paul & Lewis!

Nothing like that, the colour looks (overall) as it is in the photos we got, only it was impossible (in such an environment), to properly capture the pearl effect.

if the pearl effect is so subtle is it going to work on a normal car with several days worth of road dirt on it?

good shots paul, I took pics of the vanquish back in 2000 at lotus test track and they were the worst shots i've ever taken, mnd you, there were several reps blocking my path. Did'nt you have hands heading towards the lens when taking the pics.
By the way, what did it sound like, the same or different??

The pearl effect is quite dramatic, and it's hard to capture that on film/digital cam when you cant get a "posed" shot!

The larger, closer shot gives a reasonable idea, as you can work out the blue/grey highlights, the best angle was either front or rear (better from the front) 3/4 shot as the scoop and headlight areas really looked impressive with the light on them.
