Excellent. Easy to spot the new lights, bumper covered up and it looks like the interior has the chrome bits on the dash. I see the convertible has one of those wind deflector bits in as well. Pity there are no new 16" wheels on display though.

What's with South Africa? Have MINI/BMW got a development team over there?

I am not so sure I like the rear hatch hinges. They look a bit "clunky" to me. It somehow makes it look a bit home made. Are they supposed to stay looking like that?

I think the boot hinges are terrible. They spoil the whole car....

Paul - did the one you saw at the weekend have chrome boot latches, or is it part of the chrome pack options? They'd look better body colour IMO

I like the way the 3rd brake light is incorporated, but i agree with you all on those hinges... they are dreadful... Still, I think i can just about live with them!!!

Thinking about popping out to Geneva for the launch... Is any one else going by any chance?

Looks like I'll be going to the press days for the unveiling etc. at Geneva, and might be there for a "regular" day also to get some clear pics. We'll see what happens, and how much going back and forth I can afford!

Several possible threads where this could have landed, but I read with interest the comment in the news story from 10th January that BMW denies the existance of the Cabriolet.

Here from the official BMW press release announcing the existance of the project (also to be found in the news section of this site):

They don't deny the Convertible exists, they have not confirmed officially it will be in Cooper S form. Which I forgot when discussing the launch plans for the Cooper & One Convertibles.
