Offline | Shocking News on Cabrio $$ $$$$ & My 1st MINI Hello All, 1st off great site and news threads, been reading for a while now. I am friends with the owner of our local MINI dealer. He just got back from a meeting with BMW/MINI Canada and was told that pricing for the Cabrio will be a shocker to us all. Thats a shocker in our favor that is. He informed me that aside from specific packages to the cabrio the pricing wont be that much more than a Cooper or (S) with the sunroof option. He can't exactly confirm dollar amounts to me since 2005 pricing has yet to be set for even the hardtop models but informed me that if I want an estimate, I can figure a hardtop Cooper or (S) with all the options that I want then take the cost of the Panorma Glass Sunroof and multiply it by three or four times maximum. Add that to the bottem line and we have ourselves a cabrio price. That would figure here in Canada a Cooper S goes for $29950 base. Optional Glass Sunroof is a $1300 option out here so that would put a Cooper S cabrio in the range of $33850 - $35150 Candadian before any extras. Thats less than I thought. I ordered mine last week. That is I got my name down on the list with a deposit-think I'm in the top five once order to spec units are available. What I want: Cooper S Cabrio Pepper white Cordoba Beige Chrome Front Grill !7"ers with sport pac Almost all options with the exception of the Navigation (I like the speedo in the center) and Park Distance Controll System Hoping for a September delivery date. Offline | ncDave-Thanks for the encouragement on my color combo. I find it strange, when ever I talk to anyone about the color choice they like it. But when it comes to a dealer they always mention that the Pepper White is not rcomended. I love that color and am very happy they finally made it availble for the S. Here's another bit of info I forgot to add. They dont think the Cabrio will be treated as another model. Ordering of the Cabrio might even be treated as an option like that of the Panorama Glass Sunroof. I kinda find that cool-going down the list checking off the specs/options one might want, put a little tic on the Open Top option and thats all. MG |

Offline | odehave - cute! I problably missed him durring my last dog run pass. Hey if we only have igloo's and dog sleds then maybe there is no need for a cabrio MINI up here. Its only been -40 with the wind-chill up here this past week. MG |

Offline | I dropped by my MINI dealer to chat about the Cabrio, and I can verify that the price range that mgMINI mentions in his thread is about right. I even brought them up to speed on what it's going to look like, and also about the Blackeye Purple colour!!! Thanks to Paul for his great investigative skills Canadians, one thing you might want to know - my MINI dealer told me that Canada is going to be allocated only a small number of Cabrios,so even if the Cabrio is going to be offered as an 'option' on either a MC or MCS, there's going to be a limit to that. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the same worldwide. The MINI Cabrio will be a huge hit, for the simple reason that in the convertible market, choices are small, and many of the lower cost convertibles are in the same price range as the MINI Cabrio. The Beetle Cabrio is around CDN$ 34k, and the Mazda Miata GS starts at 30k, but doesn't have airconditioning and is a two seater. To get airconditioning in the Miata, you have to move up to the GT version, but that bring the pricing up to 34k also. The limited availability of the MINI Cabrio should also ensure that every single one allocated for the Canadian market is sold. So, I would be surprised if anyone is able to get a MINI Cabrio for less than MSRP in Canada. At least I think our MINI dealers do not gouge people for more than MSRP like some dealers do in the USA........... |

Offline | My dealer told me the same. Cadrio's will be in short supply regardless of the trim level. Then again one of the charms of the MINI is that its not being rapped like the beetle was by VW. The less there are the better for those of us who have one or will soon [like me ].Hey Paul, I know this question has nothing to do with the Cabrio - but whats your take on the Cooper S engine and its software issue. All the posts scare me. I'm going to ask my friend (the dealer owner) this week if he knows anything. Keep you all posted if I find any scoop on that or anything else. MG |
