unfortunately when there is a waiting list it happens, people are prepared to pay over the odds to get things.... look at the rolex daytona in stainless steel, 7 year waiting list, around 4k new, people are paying 7k to get hold of them - where i work i sold one for 6800......they could have a solid gold one for that price but they want the steel one cos people know its hard to get hold of! some people are just mad. personally i believe you have to be a little bit touched to pay more than list price for anything!
It happens all the time. Someone just paid over half a million US dollars for the "right to purchase" one of the McLaren cars. It was in the magazine Sports Car Market.
somone i was talking to sold his slot for the cooper S for 2k(waiting list was 6months +). went within days, advert in the times newspaper. he said it was the quickest 2k hes every made.
Im no. 16 at Barons of Farnborough, and ordered well over a year ago now. Spoke with them yesterday and orders are now well into next year deliveries, so you can understand people wanting to queue jump!
I have been told that i am going to get a conv in the first batch after putting down my Dep 27 years ago. I am desperate for the car but if someone was to offer me a BIG and i mean BIG amount to pass on my order, i would seriously think about it. Thyis will be my first EVER new car and it is going to stretch me, financially BIG time.
TOP OFF AT LAST. (Everybody be cool, you, be cool.)
Come on guys get real.
Even the dealers do it.
How many times has a dealer registered a car then sold it second hand at more than list.
It happens.
I personally wouldn't pay to take a spot of get in early. But that hasn';t stopped me getting a spot for cooper for September I hope and as soon as I take delivery, I'll order another and hopefully enjoy 6 moinths to a years low priced motoring.

bit scruffy, bit rusty, bit smelly but huge fun.
This is like those people who figure out the "hot new toy" in advance of Christmas every year and buy them all up and then sell them on eBay for twice the price to desperate parents... Both are despicable in the "damn, wish I had that foresight" category... Not that I would extort money from anyone; I just wish I had the foresight for my own purposes!
