Have now got manual a/c - had auto before. The fan is SO much quieter but is this because its manual a/c rather than auto or have they redesigned the vents/fan etc? I can now leave it in positon"1" and its very unobstrusive, unlike the previous case where it was like a small tornado in the cabin.

The manual AC on my cooper ('51) is quite noisey. I've only played with Auto on my '04 S briefly (collect car Wednesday) at dealer, but didn't notice any additional noise with AC on. Very impressed with Auto actually, looks very cool :P
