S convertible - Heated leather or Air con?

Hi everybody, after unwisely swapping my S for a diesel Mondeo (don't ask) I find myself on the waiting list for an S convertible with Dec/Jan delivery. The trouble is with a very limited budget I can only afford a few options. Xenons are a must so do I go for heated leather or air con? Bearing in mind I want that top down at every opportunity. What do you think?

Heated seats - Toasty Buns!

Great for driving with roof down at night when it gets a wee bit chilly.

I think for the convertible, the heated seats are more important than air con, you can open the top to get refreshment, so you rather need something to get the car warm.

here's a thought: why not go for the cooper convertible, with air condition and heated seats? If you have read the review recently released on this page, the handling must have improved quite a bit on the 2005 cooper models.

still waiting.. for a better time

You really need heated seats-an absolute must.

Personally I thin a/c is essential too these days particularly on the CS...

I would go for 1/2 leather seats & get A/C & heated seats-persnally think this is a better option & will be an easier car to live with

JMHO though

I agree totally, if you want the top down as often as possible..........

Heated seats. You can cope with the cold provided you've got a good source of heat coming in from somewhere. Last vehicle I had was a Honda CB600 Hornet - very good seat heater, aka the engine. I can only hope that the standard heating/cooling system on the Mini is okay as I've not gone for A/C or heated seats!

A/c is a must for any car come re sale time.

heated seats - well I have chosen this for roof down action come the autumn ! I think this would be money well spent.

Just a suggestion but why not go for the chilli pack to get the A/c and Xenons (i will never buy a car again without these) go for half leather (can you imagine sitting on full leather seats on a hot day???) which comes standard on the chilli pack - you then only need a bit more to have the heated seats as well !. In addition you get 17" rims - life doesnt get any better !

mra

Sept 17th !!!!!!! I cant wait.

You're spending 20k on car, get the spec you want. The only luxury you have mentioned are leather seats. The MCSC is not just the best cab it is the best MINI-see reviews. I drove home on an empty dual carriageway at a fair rate without the wind deflector but with the windows up with the heated seats on and was grateful for the aircon on high. Seeing the stars go by at that speed is eerie-but I was a bit cold!

get:
the heated seats
aircon
a wind deflector
and most definitely get an S

I agree chili pack is good value and likely to hold this value (it often features as a better model on price lists)

Have to ask the question but why go for the leather on the seats - if the roof is down your gonna burn your when you get in??

I was not fortunate enough to be able to afford the MCSC (only getting a MOC!) but I have got heated cloth seats and I am sure that will surfice to keep my warm on the colder nights with the roof down.

As for air/con - got it on my current car and I never switch it on as it drains too much power (and puts your fuel economy through the roof too), and at the end of the day your getting a convertible - if its too hot in the car then drop the roof - if its sunny and cold put on a hat, drop the roof and switch the bunn warmers on!

Thanks for all your thoughts. Don't know why but I associated heated seats with full leather - weird. S'pose half leather is just as good and had the Chilli pack in my regular S anyway.

If you can afford both go for it-both great functions!!!

£190 for HFS is good value & delay the car by a month if you have to to save up the extra...

Go for the heated seats. A MUST. I wish I did, the budget was overstretched as it was, kept on adding stuff(you all know what its like) but I really do regret not having the heated seats. Im sure it will cost alot more to try a put in heated seats after its been built.

I've already found the air con brillaint at clearing a misty screen after a cold night...but we also like the heated seats too! Sorry, but I also recomend pushing the boat out and getting both! I was in the same dilemma, but already don't regret the extra cash...
