MCC arrives this week - What to look for?

Ater 6 months waiting my wife's MCC arrives at the dealers this Tuesday and should be ready for collection next Saturday - Fantastic!

Of course that guarantees rain for next weekend so I will apologise in advance...

I've printed off the check list that was posted here a while ago but is there anything in particular that people can advise that I look for before signing on the dotted line?

Any tips gratefully accepted.

Cheers.

Make sure it has a canvas roof, not a tin one.....

Goodluck, these things seem to have some major teething problems.

Point out the roof wear marks on their demonstrators and make them agree to replace your roof if the same happens to yours. Make sure they're not going to fob you off with "oh, this is just normal..."

Best of luck, enjoy!

Just look very carefully as I feel final inspection and PDI to be lacking. On mine the panel gaps for the bonnet to bumper and boot lid to hood were inconsistent. The offside was not acceptable and I didn't notice until I got it home and started to apply the supagard. No problem from the dealer - they are taking it into the bodyshop to get it sorted - but I wish I had looked more closely at the time.

Also get them to show you how to select reverse. There is a knack to it. If you don't do it properly it can crunch - but once you get the knack there is no problem.

Finally check that both remotes work and they both do all the functions they should.

Then - practice your smile

Enjoy

Where did you get the Supagard from & what is the cost?

How easy is it to apply?

The dealer was quoting me £230 for Supagard/Diamond Brite - needless to say I virtually laughed in his face!

I got it from e-bay for about £9.
The paint protector is an impregnated sponge which you damp then wipe on. When it is dry you wipe it off.
The scotchguard carpet protector was a similar price and you just spray that on. Bumper shine was a £5; Alloy wheel protector another £5.
It took me about 3 hours to do it all very carefully. That is why BMW charge you so much. They probably cost it as 2 hours labour plus parts at full price.

I e-mailed one of the e-bay sellers direct and asked if they could supply all the bits.

From experience check, boot is closing flush, if leather seats, check the leather covers the WHOLE seat, marks/wear on roof, roof goes up & down properly, windows dont rattle, glove box locks & unlocks& opens, car pulling to the left, check the exhaust is not rusty, make sure ALL the keys open the roof from outside. Plus make sure you get 2 keys and one red plastic key. Sure their is more but been erased from my memory. P.S. Yes, i do like the car.

TOP OFF AT LAST. (Everybody be cool, you, be cool.)
