Offline | Will someone ease my fears I have just ordered a MCSC for 1st March delivery (part ex with my 03 MCS). I am a little worried given the amount of negative feeling re roof etc. Am I doing the right thing buying one? |

Offline | // i think only bmw can/should do that. un- fortunately, though, with car manufacturers' new profit maximzation "creedo": "...short- ened development cycles," i can't believe there's logic beyond the appearance of any given mini "convert" being the "luck of the draw." kthxbye. b. // |

Offline | I've had my MCSC just over two weeks and the roof is playing up - it really is irritating but I still don't regret it .... I agree that the build quality is much better than my old 02 MCS, much more refined and lots of nice little touches. Go for it...and look forward to cruising around with the wind in your hair.... ![]() |

Offline | I have had my Cool Blue/Black roof MCC since the end July and I can honestly say I have had no problems with the roof in terms of mechanical or roof wear. I have had on the odd occasion, when putting the roof up via the key in the lock, had the drivers sde window not closing, but this has happened a couple of times only and my dealer says he can sort that out when I am next passing. Oh, and I also have a 'dim' Xenon (which i haven't taken it back to the dealers yet to be sorted either), but this has in no way stopped my enjoyment of the car, I can honestly say i love it to bits and I wouldn't swap it for the world ![]() |

Offline | I've had a Mini Cooper C pretty much since the launch date in the UK. Drive it nearly every day and I reckon hood has been down, and then up again about twice a day on average (so, on some days 3 or 4 times in a day) and on really wet days - not at all. So far no problem with roof apart from the 'fading' and a bit of a rattle - sent email to BMW customer services just to record the problem to them (I actually said I wasn't complaining, just wanted them to be aware of the issue, so that they could notify me when they had some solutions - other 'issues' were alarm going off in the rain/strong wind conditions, and a stuck glovebox). They telephoned me 2 days later, and the car is being collected from home tomorrow morning by my dealer - not sure what they will do about the fading, but pretty happy with the professional response so far - so, I would go for it, and rely on their after sales service to sort out any minor issues that you may come across. |

Offline | I hope to collect my all black MCSC next week. I am trading in my 02 MCS. My fears are all about whether I will enjoy the car as much as I loved my MCS. As for the faults, its always worth remembering that on web sites like this when any new model is released its the owners with problems that make contact. Very few owners will ever write in and say 'hey I bought a new car and everything is fine'. So you end up with a distorted view. The thing is, you could have no problems and you could have loads. More likely you may have one or two minor niggles. Go for it and enjoy it. ![]() |

Offline | well we have lots of probs with our MOC... letter to BMW head Office has been posted at weekend... 4 and a half pages long... based on problems with out tin top one and MOC... we are just sick of taking both cars back n forth to the dealers. On AVERAGE, since receiving our MOC (3 days after launch day) it has been back to the dealers once every 15 days... so if u want a convertible MINI then get one, but as other people have said you'll either be lucky and get a problem free car or be like us and get a car full of faults.... it's a gamble! ... but when the car is right it's a joy to drive and great fun! especially with the roof down and wind in ur hair! ![]() |

Offline | A lot will also depend on your dealer. I had quite a few rattles when I collected my hard top MCS and although it was annoying to have to keep taking it back, my dealer always seemed to be trying hard to sort the problems. I am buying my new MCSC from the same dealer. |

Offline | Great comments Andy MCS It seems like it is like the toss of a coin at the moment with the early Convertibles but I am confident that BMW will sort them out to us early owners. We know that we have the benefit of getting the first Mini Conv on the road, and in some cases I know that I am one of them, ordered mine in Nov 03 to get one of the first cars on the road. Experience told me that I was running a risk as it would be one the early production cars with possible problems, but this was a risk that I was prepared to take. |

| Waiting patiently for R57 | Yes I have to believe you are doing the right thing. Despite all the angst I went through between placing my order, getting made redundant, visiting Plant Oxford and seeing the roof wear problem for the first time (and before the official luanch date!), I am so glad I stuck with it My Cooper Cabrio is fantastic, and so much better built than my original One. I remain on tenterhooks over the roof wear issue, but am supremely confident that BMW MINI will deliver on a proper and long-term solution, and that they will retro-fit to my car when required! |

Offline | You are doing the right thing. My CoolBlue/Black MCC came last Friday. I had plenty of worries waiting and reading all the posts. I love this Mini, and it has to be the most fun car I have ever driven.(yes, I said that before with the other one, they just get better). I can take the top down at a long red light with time to spare. Too much fun. I loved my 02 Silk Green MC and had a few small problems up front that were taken care of with no problem, once I switched dealers. Your dealer will be the key. Good luck. ![]() |

Offline | I have had lots of problems with my MOC. It is the subject of a thread titled "Is my MOC a heap of junk" and I will be please to discuss my problems with you if you send me your phone number to flightdeck@btinternet.com. Whilst I agree that the dealer is doing their best to rectify the problems to the extent that they have fitted a new roof, the fact remains that I have physically had the car for less that one week of the last month, or thereabouts. I have cancelled an order for a Cooper S convertible for delivery next spring. I am more likely to sleep with Kylie Minogue that buy another Mini (but if anyone can arrange for Kylie, then I may reconsider). |

| Waiting patiently for R57 | RE: Lots of Problems My commiserations, Convertible, and I would like to think your experiences are not typical of most owners of the new soft-top. I have a feeling you should consider legal advice with a view to rejecting the car - but if you've given the dealer the opportunity to put everything right, you may no longer have this option. But do think twice before cancelling the S - instead consider putting a clause in the order to the effect that you would seek recompense if the new car does not come up to scratch...... Good luck whatever you decide to do, and fingers crossed that Kylie is reading this thread (but then again, isn't she a fan of the StreetKa?) |

| MINI2 Senior | Have had my MCSC for just over 3 weeks now and clocked up about 1300 miles. I am delighted with it, build quality is very high, roof works great and I have to say I have no moans about it at all - sounds fantastic!! Don't think I have encountered any negatives at all (apart from there being not enough sun this time of year on the South Coast of the UK) - must be one of the lucky ones. ![]() |
