Offline | What about rear view car cameras? I have been researching rear view car cameras and would like to have one installed when I get my MCC. I found some with keyhole ect... mounting. Does anyone know where to mount a rear view cam, what kind, matching stylishness to the MCC. I thought about one in the rear fog light portal. I really dislike 'tailgaters' and 'crocodiles' and the MCC I think could use one just for better driving safety to compensate for the blind spots in the soft top. Thanks MINI fans. I found a navigation from alpine but is very expensive with car camera hook up. But where do you put it? |

Offline | Front and Rear Camera part numbers In a German Mini Accessories Catalog there are front and rear cameras listed that you view through the navigation system. Obviously only available with the nav system. The catalog has the part numbers but does not list a price. Front camera is 66 21 0 392 371 Rear camera is 66 21 0 392 370 Might be just what you are looking for. Steve |

Offline | Yes, I have the OEM MINI rear-view camera kit for the navagation system. It's not available in the US and so I had it imported from Germany. I haven't yet hooked it up as my MCS turned out to be a lemon and I'm waiting for my replacement to arrive in February. However, if anyone is interested in seeing it, I could snap some photos of the kit and post them for you. Also, you can download the installation instructions for the kit (in PDF format) from motoringfile.com. BTW, you'll also need part number 66 21 0 303 085 which is the switchbox parts kit used for interfacing the camera with the nav system. |

Offline | Waaay too MUCH! ![]() The camera was around 500 Euros and the switchbox kit was around another 200 Euros I believe. Ouch! In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have wasted my money, but I'm a gadget guy and so I had to give it a try. ![]() |

| See you in my rear view!! | Thats not too bad....less than I was previously led to believe. I would be tempted but I would want the front cameras also which would bump the price northwards somewhat!! Nice one though....hope you enjoy it. Let us know what its like. Offline | Yes, I imagine that it would. ![]() I believe that the front camera is as much (or more) than the back one, and I think that you need an additional switchbox kit to run it. Thus, it would more than double the cost. I was only interested in the rear view camera and so I didn't explore the front one any further. Once I get the rear camera hooked up on my new car, I'll post some pics for everyone to see. |
