Offline | Suspension - Sports Or Normal Hello all from a new boy. This is my first post but I need to finalise my spec and after many changes I only have one remaining thing to sort out - do i have sports suspension or normal. I'm changing from an MX5 and have specced a Cooper convertible, in astro black, 17' bullet alloys, chilli pack, air con, white lights and a few other bits and pieces but what will the ride be like on the 17s with sports suspension? Any help much appreciated. Thanks Dave |

Offline | Take a test drive. Personally I'd recommend the Sport Suspension package, particularly if you enjoy spirited driving. On the other hand if you find yourself on bad pavement on a regular basis you might want to go with the standard suspension. It's kind of a personal thing . . Dave |

Offline | Lots of threads on this subject. Try a search. 17"s and SS+ will be a rough, but solid ride. If your local roads are decent and you are a spirited driver, this might be the trick. A test drive, as Dave mentioned, will answer all! And congrats on your purchase! Welcome to the disease! ![]() ***BMW-AG Rocks!!!*** Portsmouth FC Can Thank Sunderland...What a Farce!!! |

Offline | I got the 17's and Sports suspension plus on my S, it's hard and bumpy but worth it. If you're only gonna pootle to and from the shops then don't bother, but if you like a bit of action and feeling from the car then go for it ![]() |

Offline | SS+ for sure, yes the ride is a tad bit harsh but that is caused by the run flats in my opinion. I drove a Cooper with 17's S spokes with non run flats and what a difference. Yes 17's are heavy but are they the S spokes on the Cab? I do think the handling is so much better with the SS+ as I had a drive in both before we purchased ours. I am not familiar with the setup of the Cab apart from a ONE, which i drove early to mid last year and felt it was very well balanced on the 16's it wore. keep us posted on your thoughts All the best Dave and welcome to MINI2 Does my @rse look big in this broom broom |

Offline | I have cooper conv. on 17" Bullets without SS - couldn't test drive before I spec'd as they weren't making them at the time! My view was that on the 17" run flats, the ride was quite jiggly - and I had the view that the roof might rattle a bit and that was without SS fitted. I've since driven with SS and without, and in my opinion the car will go round a corner at the same relative speed regardless of the suspension fitted - assuming you are driving on public roads! But, as you have the advantage of being able to try before you buy, that's what I'd do if I were you - take a loan car down a well bumpy country lane with lots of corners and see what you think. Whichever you go for you'll end up having fun! |

| Peoples Republic Of Cork | This is always going to be a difficult one . personally I specced my 05 MC with Sport suspension , AND got rid of the Runflats , I now have what I consider the optimum for the roads I drive on . I have driven many different configurations and found 16" wheels with Non runflats and Sport susp best .do a bit more test runs before you make your mind up . Gerard |
