A "Good" Problem- MCSC Available

I have the opportunity to buy a MCSC well under the sticker price within two weeks. I have three concerns: first, it has the chrono pack and I like the traditional speedo in the center of the dash. Are there advantages to the steering column mounted speedometer (other than having it more directly in your line of sight)? Second, it has black leatherette and I was wondering if someone has experience with this upholstery in hot weather. Third, I would like to hear from someone who has the standard alloy patina interior trim - do you like it? It's hard to get a good feel for what it actually looks like on the configurator.

If I order a car now I won't receive it until June or July, which I guess still isn't bad, but I'd hate to miss the spring! The rest of the specs can be seen on the profile. Thank you!

I don't understand the problem if you can buy it at a very good price.
Also.... forget about the expected delivery date of a new car in July.
You will probably have to add a couple of months to that.

About the speedometer: I used to have it in the center but have the Chrono
pack ordered on my new car; it does not only look better but it is a lot safer too.
I found the speedometer in the center quite dangerous to look at whilst
driving -- it is a real distraction.

I would not worry about the leatherette: it is a lot easier to clean than
fabric; it feels more comfy and in summer time you can always put
on a cover if worst comes to worst.

The trim should look fine.

Thanks. There is no real problem - that was just a bit of sarcasm. Given the wait times and inflated prices I have heard about, the opportunity to buy a cabrio in the color I want at a price that is good, but with a few uncertainites seems like a "good" problem to have...

Anybody out there with a racing green MCS cabrio with black leatherette and alloy patina interior???? I'd love to hear if you've been pleased with that combination....thanks

Dangerous??? Isn't this slighty over-dramatic!!! I find the speedo in the centre fine and to be honest drove a mini with the chrono pack and couldn't get used to not looking in the centre for the speedo.

If you can get the MCSC in the colour you wnat now and for a good price, you would be mad not to go for it!

The only thing that would put me off (and if I were you, it really would stop me buying it, but you obviously don't hold this opinion, or you wouldn't ask) would be the Chrono pack, I really dislike it that much! I like the Patina dash though, looks better than you might think it does (I liked it "in person" much more than in photos).

We have the BRG MCSC with the Chrono Pack and the alloy patina interior. We do have the Panther interior though. So I can not tell you my opinion on the leatherette. I have leatherette in my Audi A4 and it is perfectly fine. And you can always cover it if it bothers you in the summer.

The alloy patina is great. We thought of the anthracite, but decided on the alloy based on the other metals inside the car. I like the speedo in front of me. While i could get used to the speedo in the center, I liked the look of the chrono pack and am used to looking straight ahead for the speed.

Get it!!!! Check out my gallery, yet you may not get the true feel from the pics.

I use the speedo readout on the computer, which is located at the bottom of the rev counter, and find this ideal as I can see both the revs and the speed in one easy operation. Saying the central mounted one is dangerous is being a bit of a drama queen!

I will enjoy it Paul. At least until my wife gets back from NY City, at which point I have to give it back.

You enjoy your car as well. Sounds like a done deal.

Leatherette does tend to get hot in the warmer weather. But nothing totally undealable. I don't like the chron pack either and have gooten quite accustom to the center mounted speedo. As for the alloy patina I really like it. Tried to switch the spec on my MCSC but it was too late. Oh well, anthracite looks just as good. I'd go for it if it's close enough to what you would order anyway.

Thanks. I like your choice of black with white bonnet stripes, wheels, and mirror caps. Very nice!

Thanks!

Also speaking from experience, I didn't order my first MC, I took a car that was coming in for stock. It had one more package then I wanted (cold weather-which I grew to LOVE). I did kind of feel ripped off after a while of not having that whole ordering experience. Then I ordered my MCSC. And still there are a few things I had wished I considered getting on the car. I think the whole process is just so exciting that sometimes you forget things, and I am sure there will always be things you wish you had or had not gotten.

My first MINI (Cooper) wasn't the colour, spec, or anything I wanted. But I needed a car quick, and I loved it.

To Paul Mullet - is it possible to convert from the chrono pack to the standard configuration at the dealer?

Not ever seen or heard of it being done. Probably possible, but a pain the backside I imagine.
