Offline | Would you buy a convertable again? Having read all the threads about roof wear problems etc I was just wondering.... Knowing what you do now would you still buy a convertable? |

Offline | Not a Mini It was a big mistake in my opinion to buy a first year production model. As much as I love driving the car with the top down. Sometiems you just gotta admit the faults and it seems BMW/MIni wont. Howard |

Offline | I guess I am a little disappointed that I spent so much and the roof is wearing out but I would do it again. It is the most fun car I have ever driven by far. In fact, I am already thinking about how I could get another one. My wife is not into adding mods to the car so this one is going to stay pretty much as is. I would love to have another one that I could add lots of performance bits and pieces like I always do to my motorcycles. Maybe in a few years. |

Offline | Definitely would swap it for one with LSD Doing a ton on the way to work this am with the roof down, a surge of power and noise from the works supercharger as people get out the f-ing way, heated seats on, air con on 23 degrees this am was fantastic (blows out the cobwebs) Roof wear-can't see it with the top down |

| MINI2 Senior | Absolutely, yes. The MCSC is so much fun to drive, top up or down. Having had both a hard top and the convertible, if I had to choose again, I would definitely go with the drop top. I figure I can't see the roof wear problem when driving, it doesn't impact the car's performance and I know that I can get the top replaced within 4 years should the wear become too bad. |

Offline | Without a question I would buy this car again in a second, and then buy all my friends one if I had enough money! I think it's cool to have a first year production (first month in the US Sep '04), but then again, I haven't had problems (except for a lame dealer). Anyway, the LSD would be cool since I'm getting the JCW upgrade tomorrow. I can't imagine driving a more fun car for the money. When the hardtop Mini drivers tell me their sunroof feels like a convertible, I just think "you have no idea." ![]() |

Offline | Yes! I love my convertible and would not have missed any of the time I've had with her. I love dropping the top with the touch of a button or using the key, opening the roof just an inch or the full 18 inches when I need sun or air or just seeing the traffic light when I pull up too far under it. The engineering still awes me. It's a Sept 04 build. No wear problems, the windows do what they should, I drive it to work everyday, do not garage it and used snow tires and never missed a day of work. Hmm, is that last one a positive? Sure why not, a car as dependable as I am. My 02 Cooper was a first year build and had one minor problem with a door cable that was replaced. She was a wonderful Mini that made 30 mile an hour curves doing 60 a breeze, but alas not as sexy as a convertible and too close to the end of warranty. The improvements with the 05, (yes I like where the clock is and I like the 3 spoke steering wheel), combined with a convertible and still the great handling have made me smile quite a bit these past 6+ months and that was winter, I can't wait to experience the rest of spring and the summer to come. Bring on MOT and JTR2, I'm ready! ![]() |

Offline | I have mixed feelings. Agree great to drive and to look at and all the problems disappear when roof goes down. Should pick mine up TODAY after 10 days in dealers for new roof and windows plus a couple of other minor things. Will decide if I keep it, swap it for another conv or hard top if problem fixed or not. Does not look too promising looking at pics of Rich C's new roof. The wear marks came back straight away. |

Offline | I got my MCSC on December 2004. I have not had any problems with the roof like other posts I'm reading above (knock on wood ). I am enjoying and loving my cabrio. I'm still deciding on getting the JCW but for that price I don't know if the BMW Z4 would be another alternative. ![]() |

Offline | Can I vote YES again? I hit 1,000 miles last night. I was on the freeway crossing over a very high bridge with an awesome view, top down, big moon overhead, heated seat keeping me toasty, one of my favorite songs playing, and motoring along at about 80 mph. Oh man, this car is nice! |

Offline | There are few things better in life than crusing in a convertible. If everyone had a convertible, the world would be a happier place. Your experience reminds me of that VW Cabrio commercial with the song "Pink Moon" by Nick Drake. I've never seen the spirit of a convertible captured so well. |
