United-Kingdom Cab roof wearing problem.... fixed yet?????

I have a August build MCSC with the usual wearing marking on the roof. My BMW dealer is replacing it under the warranty next week.

My question is have they fixed the roof wearing problem yet or is it still there?????

Well I collected mine yesterday, and it does look good. I have been advised by them not to lower the roof for a week, not sure why, but I am taking no chances, it is staying up.
If you feel where the wear marks were, there is a difference to be felt underneath, they do change quite a few brackets etc.

Is the roof wear an issue with the new 05s too? We're purchasing a Mini very soon and want to know if this is an issue I need to confront the dealer about.

I don't know...... since I started putting up and down over the past few months there have been white marks showing thorough.......

If you don't have them you may be OK.

I picked up somewhere that the roof wear occurs with blue tops because this one is of another manufacturer than the black one. The new roof has rounder bended steel rods at the top so tension is equally distributed and not so high anymore, I believe it is fitted with models that are manufactured now. Just heard that, donnow for sure, don't shoot the messenger.

Just picked up mine from the dealers. They said there is a problem with them but there is no fix at the moment

I have a feeling they may be lying to me as they also said that I was the first customer they had in that said they had a problem with the rattleing h/k speakers.

Ummmmm???????

Mooyer,

They are lying. The fix is most definitely out. Give mini uk a call and tell then you are not happy with the service dept not knowing. I did that and the service manager called me the next day and said the fix is here now! Funny that.

The new fix was added to cars built after the start of Feb 05. If you have a problem with the wear marks, take it back and ask them to fix it. My dealer (Fawdingtons) have done a great job with it.
