Offline | MCCSC Ready for Delivery.........but After having posted the attached I've refelcted and thought more - hey I ordered a car, paid a deposit and am now being asked to accept less than what was agreed. Sure they've given me a few chrome bits, but I'm not sure I want them. In the lead up to the delivery of my agreed spec delivery I negotiated that i would have a loan car if I was without a car prior to my MINI being delivered. If I say "sorry that's not what I ordered" I am tempted to tell them to deliver the car that I ordered and ask that the loan car offer be provided unti the new one arrives (4 months +) Thoughts please I know I'm debating a set of mirrors with functions that I've never had - but at the same time I was so looking forward to them. What would you ask for to before you accepted this car? Received a call from my dealer today and the car is here and will be ready tomorrow, however I'll be picking it up on Friday. Now the bad news! T hey made an error in my order. Amongst other accessories I ordered the exterior window package (the one that gave you the electric folding mirrors). Their stock controller (or out of controller) sttuffed it up and ordered the chrome mirror package instead. So now I have chrome mirrors and chrome hinges on the rear. I'llmake my mind up how it looks when I see it. Apparently the chrome mirrors are just covers that can be easily replaced. They're crediting me for the mirror package I didn't get and giving me the one I got for free so I can't complain. Only other option was to get a new car built, but that just isn't practical with a wait of 4 or more months. had they messed up big time by getting the wrong color or wrong transmission that would be another matter. I've never had auto folding mirrors before so I guess I'll not miss them, and I guess you can always turn them in manually if you're concerned about getting them hit when parked. I did ask if they could be retro fitted but was told this was not possible as they need to be done at the time of manufacture. Oh well, only a minor disappointment. Hopefully the chrome mirrors won't look too bling! Cheers Frosty |

Offline | Hey Frosty - we in the states don't have the option for folding mirrora - I would have liked it though As for your Mini - I would look at the chome mirrors first before making a decision- I got the chome mirrors, grill and hinges - so I'm a little biased. If you dont like the chrome - get the dealer to replace the chrome mirror parts with black or see if they will paint them to make you happy. Sounds like a minor issue -good luck on delivery ![]() |

Offline | I agree, this definitely isn't something I'd refuse delivery for. Now if the car were the wrong color, or didn't have LSD when you had requested it, or something significant like that, I'd possibly pass on the car and wait for a new one. But for power folding mirrors? Wait another 4 months? No way! |

Offline | Thanks guys, your comments are spot on with my thinking. Given that I ordered both the interior and exterior chrome options, chrome mirrors and rear hinges is a bonus. The car is Hyper Blue and I actually think they'll look good. Anyway, I'll wait and see what it looks like when I collect it. Hopefully they'll load me up with dealer type goodies when I collect it. | Livin' the country life | Hey Frosty Glad to hear that your MINI will soon be with you As to the electric folding mirrors I wouldn't miss them, even though I don't have them myself. I did have an extended test drive in a CB/Blue MCSC that had the mirrors but to be honest I found them a bit gimmicky They would be ideal for parking your MINI on narrow lanes but that's about it. Use the credit for them to buy a couple of sets of mirror caps, they are a great way to change the look of you car in 10 minutes. My DS/B MCSC came with body coloured mirror caps but they only lasted 4 weeks, my car now sports chrome which looks dead sexy on a cabrio IMO. The British flag ones look awesome with hyper blue paintwork, and as you have a black roof, I'd give the checkered flags a burl too ![]() ![]() |

Offline | I sure could use those folding mirrors. The doorway of my garage has only about four inches of clearance between the sides and the mirrors. I am worried that one of these days I won't be paying enough attention and rip one right off. Had they been available in the US I might have considered them. The chrome exterior package is really nice especially the grill. I just do not like the painted grills on MCS's without the package. |

Offline | Hi there "me" & "cafe" In refelction for me the folding mirrors are more of a gimmick than a necessity - but it sounds like they're a real winner for you "cafe" if you could get them. I'll see what I can do to get another set of caps from the dealer - at the very least the body colour ones, and at a stretch the Brit Flags. I'll let you know how I get on. I'm warming to the chrome ones though. The mistake may actually give a bit of "wow" and most defiinately "BLING" Cheers Frosty |

Offline | WOW! on your car the chrome on the mirrors looks brilliant and I can't see why it wouldn't be the same for hyper blue. I once did a short course in interior decorating and the only thing I recall is need to compliment colors with balance. It seems to me that if you've got discreet chrome on the body the balance is provided with the prominence of the mirrors. I'm feeling good about the way this has turned out! Worst case I'll pop the mirror caps and replace them - but from where I sit it seems like the error in my order is actually a bonus. Besides, the money refunded for the retracting mirrors will more than cover the window tiniting I plan to do (not from BMW, tint professor is my choice I've done my research and they stack up against the crazy prices that I know the "babe" in pre-sales will try to sell me when I collect the car along with all the other stuff they'll try to sell as I go out the door). Offline | He Meinamini, Nice to see the pic of your car. Have exactly the same on order, same colour, same driving lights, same black stripes... only beige leather interior. @ frosty: I would not reject my car if it did not have the retracting mirrors - but I would make sure that the dealer, apart of the chrome package, would arrange the window tinting for me (they sure have better contacts and it is a lot cheaper for them than for you...) and not send me any bill... ![]() If you think everything is under control You are going too slow |

| Some have THICK skins!!!! | Just read this thread and I know that the electric folding mirrors ARE retro fittable. Mikeythemini does them. He ordered the kits via Japan at first (where the option was available before the UK) and I have seen them working on his car. He has also modified the kit so they work on the key fob - not just on the button like they used to be on a stock MINI. I'm not sure if they are an easy self fit but I would contact him for some advise on this - then you can have what you really want. www.newministuff.com Hope your having fun with your new baby - and i look forward to the pics. Offline | All I can say is WOW. I collected the car yesterday, did about 40 km's then brought it home for some detailing. Got 2 Zaino coats on today and another two planned tomorrow along with a 333 protectant application on the roof. I attached my chrome covers for the toggle switch surrounds - just too easy and looks good. I've ordered a chrome surround for the mirror control concole as well as for the demister vents on the dashboard - why aren't these included when you order interioe chrome The finishing touches are chrome inserts for the door handles and Brit Flag valve covers for the tyres. Here's a few pic's (please excuse the wheely bins! Cheers Frosty pic files too big to post will sort this out and post them soon |

| Some have THICK skins!!!! | you have to resize them to no bigger than 650 x 900 pixels for them to upload properly. Most editing software packages can do this for you. If your still having trouble let me know and I'll quickly pop em up for you if you e-mail the originals to me. Paul |
