| MINI2 Regular | New Roof ?????? If anyone has been reading my recent posts, you would know that my MCSC went in to the dealers yesterday to have a few problems sorted out. When in I asked them to look at my roof as it had a 15mm slit in it just above the rear windscreen. I have been told today that I now need an entire new roof as this is a fault in the canvas and not caused by opening & closing. However leadtime for new roof is approx 6 weeks, I am currently trying to sell it before the summer is here, this will now affect my chances of doing that. Do I have a good case of rejecting the car and the dealer taking it back or at least make me a sensible offer. Comments appreciated, has anyone else tried to reject the car based on the fault of the roof (mine is only 10 weeks old) and how did you get on. I know Griffer is having problems. cheers nickw |

Offline | Please read! There must be good dealers and bad dealers! I took my wife's car to the supplying dealer on Thursday to have the roof inspected. Without even seeing the car they informed me that BMW had agreed to replace the roof, lock stock and two smoking barrels. We were told the work could be done week commencing 2nd May but as this is a Bank hol (and the sun may shine) have booked it in for the following week. The service adviser also said that the roof coming off will go in the skip and does not have to be returned to BMW. Apparently BMW will replace all roofs with signs of wear but will not recall vehicles as this is purely a cosmetic design fault. Don't take any crap from dealers, the mini cabrio is a fantastic car. If you have a problem get it sorted now and help keep the depreciation of our vehicles to the excellent level it is now. My dealer / service manager's name can be supplied if needed. |
