United-Kingdom Bluetooth handsfree in Convertible?

Hi,

Has anyone installed a bluetooth handsfree kit in a convertible?

I was interested as to whether it's usable, and any installation advice.

cheers

Paul

I had a Nokia fitted some time back - can't remember which one but it has the blue lit button. I have to admit, I also had a cradle and charger fitted at the same time, so it is now conventional handsfree (when in the cradle) and bluetooth (when I can't be bothered getting my phone out of my bag )

I am more than happy with the results when the roof is up, unless going a high speeds on the motorway when I do find I have to shout a bit to be heard.

When the roof is down, again ok at slow-ish speeds but not at all good when on motorway so I don't usually bother.

I got my local RAM Audio to fit and they did a pretty good job.

Mike, Thanks,

The car is a mini cooper convertible, with boost single cd changer. I have also installed the AUX input.

I think I need a parrot system, as they are the only ones certified with my phone.

Are there any issues with this setup?

Carolynn, thanks. Thats pretty much what i thought it would be like with regard to noise. I cant use the nokia kit though.

cheers

Paul

I fitted a ck7w nokia kit myself into my mcsc and it was really very straight forward. There are some excellent instructions available. Mikeythemioni is your man. I also have the HK amp so had to have an additional wiring loom installed. it now works perfectly with or without the stereo on and comes out through the hifi and shows phone on the head unit. I reckon it cost me about £125 in total to fit.

Its sounds a bit complicated but really not too difficult and an ideal aafternoon job in summer. allow about 1.5 hours to do it oh and you need a couple of star headed skrew drivers which you can pick up from Halfords. I got my CK7W car kit from ebay but don't tell mikey.

I would position your mike just below the dashboard top next to the speedo. You want it as close to you head as possible. Do not stich it at the top by the interior light!!!

Have fun

I've installed a Nokia CK-7W without a cradle and it works very well. I've placed the button input device directly under the handbrake lever and the box behind the trim under the steering wheel. I can only recommend this Nokia handsfree kit.
