United-Kingdom Viper Stripes

Has anyone had Viper stripes fitted to their cabro?
If so does the stripe go onto the little bit of the roof above the windscreen?

I've looked at a few pictures on this sight and found some do and some don't!

Does anyone know the official policy of the dealers?

My dealer says 'not'!

My stripes were custom designed, made by Cooper Flags. As far as I know, this was the very first cabrio "roof" stripe, and the installer was skeptical when I suggested it. Everyone who sees the car loves the stripes. More pics in my gallery.

I could be wrong (and probably am) but vipers are not a standard option from MINI. A dealer will generally have the stripes outsourced to a local 'striper' place. Then you just need to specify what you want and the more stripes you get the more it costs. I did not get vipers on the area above the windshield because you really would not be able to see them but I did get them on the (front/rear) aero kit and bumpers. My stripes cost about $500 USD.

Why thank you!!! I was checkn' out your gallery and your MINI is very nice as well! So, I see you have posted a few more times than me so I have a question. I have a gallery but there's no icon that allows people to check out my gallery? Do I need to do something so that people can see the "camera" icon on my posts? Do you even understand my question ?

Anyway, your gallery is great!

I don't think there is an official policy. Some places outsource, others do it themselves. Our dealer said they didn't fit them on the grill, but I wanted them there and showed them a pic and they did it. Same on a bit on the rear bumper. Try just asking them nicely if that's what you want!

I agree. I think what I meant is that vipers are not a MINI factory option but rather a dealer installed item.

In America the whole Viper stripe thing is big now. You see them on a lot on the Dodge trucks and the new Ford mustangs. This is good because there's more places that have the experience doing the vipers and you can save some money by having it done independently (not through the dealer).

My only advise is to lay out a few viper colors on your paint before you pick one. Most likely you will see a color that works well with your set up. In my case, the vipers match my wheels (gun metal) and a black viper would been too much. I originally wanted white vipers!!!

I really like the blue paint w/ white vipers and one small pin-stripe on the outside of the vipers. The classic American muscle car look. Beautiful.

Looks great!

Off subject question. Why did you cover up your license plate in the photo? I noticed that people in Europe always hide/color over/ blur the license plate on the pictures of their car but Americans don't. Just curious.

I guess its just a security thing really.... I tend not to do it so much as i think i would be pretty hard to exactly copy my car!

However someone with a standard Chilli Red/White Hardtop may wish to cover theirs to avoid people cloning their cars off the internet!

It does happen!

Check out the ex-demo JCW S Cabrio on the cherished site of www.benhamwolvesmini.co.uk. Doesn't go all the way on that roof piece, but at £24k, it has everything else on it...

Just me being perdantic, but why do UK MINI Convertible Drivers/Owners/Enthusiasts call it a "Cabrio"?

A true "Cabriolet" has a single Roll over bar normally along the "B" Pillar section of the car (See VW Golf/Ford Escort), whereas a Convertible as Roll over protection behind the rear seats (See BMW 3/MINI Convertible)..

Ta!

Not sure about that. The Audi Cabrios had no roll hoop. I thought it was just the use of the words based on the origin of the car. Of course saying "Porsche Cabriolet Convertible" is redundant. See, there is another cabrio without a roll hoop.
