Roll Bars, are they really outside?

This is just for fun. But I think of the rollbars being inside the car, not outside.

The rollbar in chrome are part of the Chrome Line Exterior. But I think of them as inside the car, and should be part of the Chrome Line Interior.

MINI includes the chrome rollbars on the 'vert as part of the chrome line exterior. I think the poll is asking if they really should be inlcuded as part of the chrome line interior.

I'm personally conflicted as they are "outside" when the top is down (which is most of the time) but certainly seem to be inside when the top is up.

We did not get the Chrome Line Exterior, but we got the CHrome hoops. We did get the CHrono Pack which includes the Chrome Interior. So I am not sure if we got the Chrome hoops because of it being a 'vert, because of the interior, or because it is an S. I have heard all things. Did not want them anyway.

Someone please PM me that you are willing to swap your black ones.

By the way, isn't everything that is on the inside, on the OUTSIDE when the top is down?

That would make it part of the exterior since you signed a contract to keep the top down 90% of the time.

In the US at least, the chrome hoops are standard on the S mode. I would have preferred the dark gray to avoid glare.

A recent discussion on another thread was concrned with whether the roll hoops were high enough to protect passengers during rollover. I thought your question was related to that...

I am 6 foot. And when I have sat in the back seat. I am so not getting saved by the roll bars.

But my question is a total cosmetic one, and just for fun.

I think they should be optional without the rest of the exterior package. The hinges and mirror caps are too much I think, but I almost refused to drive my mini off the lot without my chrome rollbars installed. (i relented to picking up the part a week later when jarod came out with my keys in hand )

edit: you know, i take that back.. they should just be standard period

So did you swap them yourself? What was the process?

And NO, they should not be standard I want the black/gray (whatever).

no they did it at the dealer where they were delivered.. Took maybe 15 minutes, most of which i assume was my MA convincing someone to do it.. They two pieces simply snap together after i'm assuming the standard black plastic snaps off.

Australia

Over here in the antipodes, all cooper S cabrios come standard with the chrome roll over hoops, whilst the cooper cabrios have the black, regardless of chrome interior/ exterior.

BTW I love my chromey hoops I didn't go for either the chrome interior or exterior, but did invest in some chrome mirror caps and I have now moved onto chequered flags

I agree with you. The car is wonderful and, IMHO, the only thing that spoils it are the incongruous roll bars - luckily for me I could not afford the MCSC so mine did not come with them as standard and as I wanted a keep mine 'understated' I did not have them added
