Offline | Looking After The Hood {Roof} On The Cabrio This may seem a daft question to ask so here goes. What is the best way to keep the fabric on the hood in pristine condition. ![]() dinger. ![]() PS,If we go ahead with our order this will be our very first cabrio we have owned. ![]() |

![]() Time for CHANGE ! | Well a pack of Autoglym Cabbriolet Fabric Hood Cleaning kit would be a start, the hood is treated with Aquapel as new, so the Autoglym stuff should keep it good, or MINI will doubtless have similarly expensive products, this stuff retails at about £20 for a cleaner and protector set. two squirty bottles |

Offline | Don't know if you can get it there but 303 Aerospace Protectant is recommended by one of the largest vinyl top makers in the world. Great stuff. And as suggested above. Mild soap and water are the best/safest for cleaning vinyl. |

| MINI2 Regular | convertible roof cleaning Hi Our MCC should be with us during the next month and we've never had a soft top convertible (206CC at present). We're having the car treated with Superguard mainly for the roof but just wondered what you actually clean the roof with. Autoglym do a fabric roof cleaner, has anyone had experience of using that? Cheers Michael & Kate |

Offline | Every convertible i've had before i've just washed the top with the same stuff i wash the body with. I wouldn't spend a ton of money on some fancy "Covertible Top Cleaner". Just wash it and dry it just as you would the body! A dirty mind is a terrible thing to waste! |

Offline | Mum uses the AutoGlym fabric roof kit (cleaner+protector) on her old SL.... I have to say it works a treat.... However, the Superguard repels most things such as rain, bird plop and other lovely things that nature throws at us.....I have it on mine, and so far I have just had to hose of the top to get rid of the dust and bits..... Have fun, Jon P.S. Sorry... couldn't resist it!! ![]() |

Offline | Hi, Just leave the roof dry anf brush or vacuum off any muck that sticks to it. If you wash the roof be careful as this may remove some of the waterproofing. Paul; |

| MINI2 Regular | Cancelled silver seal from dealer yesterday (£225) and just bought some on ebay for £10!!! It's very easy to use and I really don't mind spending the time on the car myself - at least I'll know how well its been done!! Was shown some BMW fabric cleaner and a waterproofing agent (about £40 for both) so probably will get some of that. MD Great pictures Jon - have a mate who'd getting cool blue - we're astro black! |

| Hyper Blue Mini S Cab | I have been driving soft tops since I was 17 and used all types of roof cleaning products........ I have found the best thing to clean a soft top roof is the same shampoo as used on the body of the car.... although in the last few years I have dumped my leather for an Hydra Flexi Blade fantastic for getting the water off. As for Superguard I have done had it on car before and I cant honestly tell the difference from a car that has no Supeguard..... My local dealer wanted me to have it @ around £250. |

Offline | I've currently got a AutoGlym treatment on order for my MCSC for about that price, but I gather thats treating the body work, interior and the roof and then provides a 10yr (IIRC) guarantee that (certain - I assume) stains can be fully removed (easily) - otherwise they'll come out and sort it for you. I thought it was a good idea, especially as the rear seats are likely to be occupied by my two small kids at some point in the future. SImon., |

| MINI2 Regular | We've got AutoGlym's 'Lifeshine' on our Fabia VRS and I really can't tell it's there - car was new in March this year and I've had to rewax some panels already - don't think it's helping the interior either - only bonus is the bag with all the autoglym products in but buying them seperately wouldn't have cost the £200 that lifeshine cost. Check out ebay as there were two lifeshine kits on there, a small one and the proper one. I think the proper one was around £80.00 - so if you don't mind a bit of work it could be a cheaper option! Offline | That's the stuff! The thing that's convinced me its approaching reasonable is the guarantee part of it. I assume unless someone approved applies it, you don't get that... maybe I'm wrong... Or isn't the guarantee worth the paper its written on? (too many clauses?) This could be a way I can get the manual -> auto aircon upgrade for free!! (ish!)... (I'm considering it anyway... 220 on a 20.5k car isn't that much difference!). Simon., |

Offline | So you don't think its worth it for the exterior, but does anyone have any comments about its worth on the interior... I've got two young kids to think about (one 3, the other under 1), and if the interior can be guaranteed against normal stains then I'm erring that way... I'd kinda viewed the outside as a bonus anyway. Also I understand, its possible to sell the car and leave the guarantee intact for the next owner (at least I believe that's what I read). Simon., |
