| I am not a number!! | So who has driven it? Well I couldn't help myself, and I was rather hoping to get a drive of it before I drove home in the GP I picked up yesterday ![]() The car I drove had no Sport suspension, which was a shame, as to me this was the only thing that let it down. I was so impressed with how it pulled, the torque, the power, the fact I could get teh DSC light flashing ![]() I have been warned by someone that I would like it, as it was far more involving than the petrol Cooper and MCS, and I recon it would give an old MCS a run for its money no problem ![]() It would actually make sense as a second car for me, and if I feel I need that second motor which is more practical later in the year then this could be it, as I'm still not a fan of the drive of the R56 petrol cars, but this for me was more of what is missing from the others. Its very involving, and not in a tiring way that I always felt the OneD was. Oh and the engine noise, no worse than some of the petrol R56's I've driven ![]() Its only a forum you know! ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | I popped into Cooper Tadworth yesterday as they had a demo day for the new D. As I was leaving I saw a woman being handed the keys and starting up her new Cooper S. I couldnt help but chuckle to myself as when she turned the key it sounded worse than the diesel version. I would have been so angry if i was her. What is it with these new petrol engines? Oh I didnt try the new D out Rakey as my wife used up all our time looking at a little orange Cooper Cabrio. ![]() |

| I am not a number!! | Its not all about BHP you know ![]() Torque is your friend, not BHP. I mean next you'll be saying that its all about engine size, a 1.6ltr One (old gen), a 1.6ltr Cooper, a 1.6ltr MCS, a 1.6ltr JCW, a 1.6ltr GP, all are different ![]() Sorry to say it but the R56 Dooper is as spirited to drive as the R53 MCS, if you don't believe it then get yourself over to Ireland in May and I am sure a couple of the lads there will show you what I mean ![]() The key thing is though that the R56 Dooper is more involving than the boring petrols, you actually have to drive it hard not just pop your nice lady shoes on the acelerator and go as you do on the petrol version. Offline | Sure you say that now you have a 218bhp MINI ![]() I recon you want everyone else to get Cooper D's thinking they are the new performance car, so you can welly past them in your GP On a more serious note I can see us getting a Cooper D at some stage ![]() ![]() |

| I am not a number!! | Yeah but the old Cooper is dull compared to an R53, so get back your box Patrick ![]() But I guess part of was that some MCS used to drive it and abuse the instant power, where as some of us drove it like the Cooper owners drive theirs ![]() No seriously, get to the dealership and try this, you'll love it, would make a great car for Steph ![]() Its only a forum you know! ![]() |

| I am not a number!! | Really? Can't believe you, yes its got bags more pull and power, but its so dull to drive, its like driving a jag, great for old folks and ladies ![]() For me the diesel gave me what was missing the interaction with the car, the need to think about what you are doing, which gear you are in etc. Its only a forum you know! ![]() |

| I am not a number!! | Thought you said you'd prefer the S, or did you mean the R53 S? If thats the case, of course the R53 MCS would get my vote out of the two for audible pleasure reason, but if I need to buy a brand new MINI now, I'd not hesitate getting the Dooper ![]() Its only a forum you know! ![]() |

Offline | Went into Mini Heathrow yesterday and they had a PW/B D. The ever helpful Stewart let me have a quick drive and I have to say - impressed. Couldn't really try it out because it was too short and the car only had 6.9 miles on the clock :-), but very impressed - not noisy at all and once it gets going it really does pull. But.....still can't take the plunge into R56 ownership. My MCS is 3 in July and I would normally change it....but not for the R56 as it is now. The R56 has lost the the Mini spirit, it's just not special any more If Mini do something about the rear of the S, then maybe, but there is no way it gets my money with the chav halfords silencer or the 4 x 4 Panda looks at the rear. If I have to, it's the D for me.......but think I'll be keeping the MCS for now, in the hope Mini do somthing...... please ......... oh and why do I HAVE to have the white dash edging if I have tan leather ....??? eugh |
