Only a test drive can tell you that.

But I personally don't think it's sluggish, it's pretty perky really.

I would recommend asking how much they would put it on their forecourt for.

Then deduct a couple of grand for the trade in value.

Of course the lead time does give you a good chance to sell privately for the price you are looking for.

You tell us, you drive a One don't you?

Economy is a major factor on the Diesel, I think residuals should prove strong as well as supply may well struggle to meet demand, and it's still a spritely drive.

I do agree with LookalikeJCW to a certain extent, i couldnt imagine owning a slower car as ill most likely want it to go just as fast as my S but if you do cover that many miles then the sensible option is to trade in for a deisel! no doubt about it

unless

you can afford the running costs, obviously you can because you have done for the past year but then you wouldnt be asking this question if it was sensible for you to do so.

I do alot off driving when i do come home from work, if im home for 2 weeks then ill be filling up the tank say every 3 days as i did over easter. Its not cheap and if i was home from work everyday like a 9 - 5 job at home then maybe i wouldnt drive as much but, if i did i would not own an MCS at all!

It's a better choice than the Cooper without a doubt! with that sort of miles if I were your i'd deffo consider one now.

Take a few extended test drives, i don't think you'll be disappointed!
As for delivery, shop around, some dealers may struggle to shift them and may have slots available.

Also as for trade-in, I still recommend to anyone to clean their car up stick it on autotrader and expect to get a GRAND more than the dealers are offering. if your cars a good un you'll get it!

I've had a JCW S, been there done that, sold it.
Got bored with:
Petrol stations (permanently looking out for the next optimax pump)
Spinning squealing front wheels (210bhp through the front wheels is a real pain in the wet)
Spotty Saxo drivers trying to pass me

The cooper D is certainly not seismically fast but in the power band it can certainly shift!

You got bored with 210bhp supercharged version, but not with a 110bhp diesel version? different I suppose.

I guess we all have a different perception of how a car should be and feel. The only way is to test drive both yourself. No amount of wrangling here will really help you decide and if it does it could be the wrong choice for you. Get out there you lazy bugger

Pssst. Go supercharged.

I am also thinking of getting a Cooper D - but I am moving from a Rear wheel drive Volvo Turbo!?!

I enjoyed the test drive and hope to book an extended test drive to really put it through its paces1

Any suggestions/ tips for anything to especally look out for in the test drive?

The car shines on a twisty road provided you keep it in the right gear. Again on a dual carriageway it's pick up even up hills is good. It behaves most like a V6 rather than an old fashioned turbo or VVti engine. It may take you a while to get used to it!
