windscreen disaster... help needed

Ok so my other half was driving down the M180 today when a stone smacked him on the windscreen - 1 x cracked windscreen... annoying enough but the windscreen insurance will cover that. Sadly the stone has also damaged the black side arm that runs down the edge of the windscreen.(its chipped a chunk out)

Does anyone know if these are replacemnet parts easily available and what kind of cost? - clearly dont want to make full insurance claim as policy will rocket....

So upsetting as car is 12 days old....

they are easilly replaced about just over £20 each -held in by a few screws and pop studs
worth replacing the rubber gasket beneath it too if you have an early car-the windscreen people usually break them anyway or they fall off shortly after the screen change!

Are they easy to fit or is it a job for dealership

will it not be covered in your windscreen insurance??

My winscreen cover, covers me for the "windscreen" and and damaged paintwork etc caused during the breaking of the glass etc etc.

I know autoglass replace both side trims when the replaced my windscreen when it cracked, they said it was easier as they genearlly break when the replace the screen anyway and the insurance pays for them as well

when I had a new windscreen on my R53 S, they replaced one of the black trim panels as it was damaged - might be worth asking

The RAC only replaced one of the A pillar trims for me, as they only cracked one when putting windscreen in, but they also cracked the corner piece, and took a bit out of the seal that runs along bottom of windscreen.

So anyway, about a month later the same A pillar trim cracked, so I assume their replacement was put on right.

Tip, dont go to RAC, local windscreen company came to replace the screen second time it cracked, and they showed me all the bits the RAC had broken!

Also RAC didnt use a good windscreen, used a cheapo RAC alternative. Which was rubbish. As if it isnt bad enough the R53 had such a curve in the windscreen it is a fair bit thinner than other cars, hence the crack so easy.

Cost me a small fortune to replace bottom seal, A pillar trim, and the corner piece, over £100 this time round.
