getting cold feet!

Firstly I have ordered an august build cooper d

I've read quite a lot in the faults and fixes section about rejected cooper s's. Including a very long thread about Paul Mullet's problems and then rejection of a r56 cooper s and his asertion that he has no plans to buy another for a number of reasons including reliability issues.

Is the r56 really as bad as people claim?

I had my fingers burnt big time with a very expensive MCSC works which I ended up selling to MINI because of my concern about it's longevity.

**warning inflammatory statement coming****

If I wanted a creaky, unreliable car with untried tecnology I would buy a citroen -perhaps that is what the r56 is anyway?

My R56 MCS is better built than my previous '52 reg MCS - smoother ride, less rattles, more power, far better fuel economy. The only problems I have encountered so far are a very quiet intermittent rattle from the ignition/dash, and a slightly notchy gearbox which is starting to loosen up anyway now as it begins to get some miles on the clock. Touch wood I have not had any of the serious problems reported by others. For the record mine is a Feb '07 build.

My November build R56 MCS has not suffered from any reliability problems, and no creaks either. Yes, a few minor issues that were quickly and easily sorted; but I am now approaching 5000 miles and very happy.

Of course there have been some problem cars and a few members have been very unfortunate indeed. But I think there are many other owners who have not had any bad experiences.
