Filling up

Is it just me, or is there a special 'nack' to getting the fuel nozzle in the fule filler hole correctly to ensure a decent flow of diesel in to the tank? The fill begins and then I get the 'click click' as if the tank is full, even though I have only put a few litres in

I have now filled up four times, and only once have I had a decent, uninterrupted flow of fuel, so am wondering whether it is my technique, or whether there is something wrong with the hole in to the tank which is disrupting the flow - anyone help?

It's all about the angle of the dangle.

Try twisting to the left or right.

It's finally here

Try using the standard pumps instead of the truck ones.

I went to get diesel for the first time yesterday (V-Power Diesel), and I constantly got the 'click, click, click'

I was at the pump for ages trying to get the damn thing to work properly!! It worked ok when I pulled the pump out slightly but then I was worried it would over fill and spill out? So ended up not getting a full tank.

I dont remember this happening when I put fuel in the Dooper I borrowed though (I used BP that time)

Does turning it slightly to the left or right work?

Didn't have this problem on the Dooper but alas, tried to fill up the new one and CLICK CLICK CLICK!!

People staring at me like 'why the hell is he trying to fill up a full tank!?'

I use the 'slightly pull out but not too much' method, it still auto-clicks when the tank is full. Don't blame me if you get diesel all over yourself tho!!

Will try the 'insert at different angle' and 'twist left or right next time'.

I will blame you I will probably swear in the petrol station and say its your fault

I was highly embarrassed at the pump coz it took me ages to get the £27 in the tank!! And there was someone waiting behind me

Strange. I've had no problems at all with filling my Dooper.

If you're new to diesel, don't forget to wear the disposable gloves when you fill up. If you get it on your hands, it's not only bad for you but gets diesel all over the inside of your MINI off your hands!

You've probably used pumps with damaged nozzles that splash back to their sensors but retracting the filler a few mm should let the flow run properly.

I have had the same problem, but the way I think of it is that I fill up less times than I did with my Cooper S

dlpruk has my vote here...

I suffer from the same, but pull it out slightly. I remember an old petrol 3 series with a very similar problem

I have this problem but if you twist the pump upside down it seems to sort it and still click off when the tank is full.
