Offline | New Cooper D Hi, I'm completely new to Mini's - thinking of buying a Cooper D for Sept 07 delivery. Limited on spend to around £16k due to large mortgage! The only quote so far has been on 3 yrs select finance with 10% deposit and 11.4% apr - I know this iAPR s too high but realitically, what can I get? I'm going to look at HP options and loans from the banks also. Spec-wise, thinking of pepper pack, MFSW, Crome mirrors, possible alloy wheel upgrade - as I say, I'm limited so it's a bit annoying!!! My main question is, are there any pieces of kit on the standard car that definitely need upgrading? Are the seats OK? Does the CD player play MP3's? is the manual aircon (wioth the pepper pack) better or worse than the auto option? The dealer also told me that from 1st August, the MCD will also have the regenerative braking system that BMW are curretly using and the engine cut out facility when stopped - should improve MPG even more but might be frustrating in heavy town traffic - hope it can be over-ridden! Nothing confirmed yet but it might even take the CO2 level further down - is it possible the MCD could end up being exepmt from road tax????? Grateful for your help and wanted to say what a great forum this is! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Offline | It's all confirmed: http://www.mini2.com/category/cooper-diesel/ The standard (boost) stereo sounds like a bee trapped in a tin can with some cotton wool padding, so I'd want to upgrade that if I was buying a new MINI. MFSW is very good for convenience, especially as the new stereo controls are pretty poorly set out. Other than that, there's really not any "must have" options, there's so many to chose from, and they're all very personal choices. Not really any "bad" things to buy, and it depends if you want sport, comfortable... You can flavour your MINI how you want it. |

Offline | Chili pack adds Cloth/Leather Sports seats 3 Spoke steering wheel 16" Blaster Alloy wheels Larger rear roof spoiler Storage compartment pack Dealer told me a pack usually knocks 25% off what all the options would cost All dealers suggest Chili pack is a wise investment for resale My personal preference on air con is that manual is better than automatic |

Offline | MINI don't give discounts but do do cheap finance. You should be able to get around 6.5% APR from MINI finance for HP or 6.2% from external sources. Top tips: be cross if they talk about "flat rates", go armed with a print out of loans from comparison sites like moneysupermarket.com Dealers get an increasing kick back depending on the rate they sucker you into eg £1000 for 8.2% APR, they are always keen to deal....................... ![]() |

Offline | I have just about to place an order with a mini dealer as they matched a discount that was offerd to me from an internet site (motorlogix.co.uk) of almost £500. Try getting a quote from this site and taking it to your dealer and asking them to match or come as close as possible and you will be very suprised what they will do to get a sale. |

Offline | Agreed. The auto system is fiddly to operate and adds four ill placed buttons and makes the console look rather busy and very ugly. Another bonus with the manual system is that you can operate it while keeping your eye on the road. |
