Offline | My Dad's diesel Jag had had to go back for something similar, if the car is driven short miles or with a light throttle the exhaust system might get so hot there could be a risk of fire! It is related to the Particulate Filter not clearing itself properly....Interesting ![]() |

Offline | The engine management has a little routine built in which it uses to determine when is a suitable point to regenerate the particulate filter. To do this it needs a fairly steady cruise. It alters the injection timing (starts doing late post injections) and some cars use a urea injection system to reduce the temp at which the regeneration process begins. I guess if the car isn't deamed to meet a suitable condition is will never regerenate and the filter will block up causing poor mpg and reduced performance. |

| Peoples Republic Of Cork | Has anyone had a problem with 'uncomanded' throttle input , My brothers MCD as well as a Friends MCD both 07 have on several occasions accelerated while the throttle is in the off position pretty scary I would imagine , both cars going back to the dealer Tomorrow .I will post progress , I am worried that development on the MCD is being done by the customers as I have an 07 R56 MC and have NO problems after 7 months of daily use .one of the cars has also had the airbox and pipes fall off after 20 kms from new as well as a relay under the bonnet , the above coupled with the awful handling is worrying . | SooperDooper | This is becoming quite worrying. If you look at the "vibration" thread as well. My 3 month old Dooper sounds like a bag of nails and it's all down to the air intake hose. The dealer has had a go twice, works for a few miles then the vibration starts up again. Sounds like the whole dash is vibrating although it's down to this one hose. The air intake "entrance" vibrates plastic on plastic the rest of the hose falls off the lug and yes the handling without sports suspension is odd. For such an expensive car you would have thought Mini would have made sure the cheapness from the Ford and Peugeot/Citroen applications and design bit of this engine would have been checked and rectified. We have a Dooper Clubman on order, but if the dealer can't sort this soon then I think I will cancel. I just hate rattles and vibration and paying what will be 22 g's is a lot for a car BMW don't seem to have bothered keeping the quality up in. Steffi |

| Peoples Republic Of Cork | Agreed , I was about to order a Clubman D as well BUT based on My Brothers experience with His D I will not be ordering now , My current MINI an 07 MC R56 is excellent and after 7 months of use has NO problem whatsoever , this is My 3rd MINI . I have seen 1st hand the appalling quality and fit of the intake pipes and airbox on the D and My 1st thought is the 'Beancounters ' have taken over design from the Engineers and its the start of a downward spiral in quality versus ££€€ , Mercedes tried that one a few Years ago and look at the results they are now fighting back and its a long hard battle to solve reliability problems and customer confidence caused by 'penny pinching' . I hope this is not a sign of the future and is only a 'glitch' in what has been a meteoric success story and MINI should heed the warnings and keep the accountants away from design ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() G |

Offline | cant say i have the same problem with the throttle. other than the hose clamp that came loose on the turbo i have no problems with the D. but as i have posted before the handeling is a bit odd and i have the sport suspension. i was told that you need to push it a bit for the back to get a bit light but personally i don't think thats the case as it has lost the weight on me a few times lucky the DSC is there to recover :P |

Offline | .......I wouldn't care about penny pinching if: A) It worked B)Some savings were passed onto the customer! TBH the R56 Dooper really has knocked the shine of the whole MINI experience for me!: The car just seems So much Cheaper.......but Why are we Paying through the Fecking Nose for a "premium" product. We could same a hell of a lot of money on a daily driver that wouldn't give us the same issues.....and if it did well then we could tell ourselves......."what do you expect....it's a Ford...it's a Peugeot.....its a.......whatever!!!! ![]() ![]() |
