Just a quick question how much miles are people gettin between fill ups on the cooper D and how much does it cost for the fill up I get 250-300 mile with my "S2 at about £36.00-£40.00. I just want to see what iam going to gain come september.

At the moment, with the engine hardly run in, I'm getting about 450.
I expect that to reach 500 once the computer gets used to my driving style. Not surprisingly it costs me just a little shy of £40 to refuel.

Remember that the D only has a 40 litre tank as opposed to the 50 litre tank of the S.

I'm getting close to 400 miles, but I hasten to add, thats using 32 litres, that costs about £30ish @ 94.9p a gallon of diesel... That was with my first 2 tanks, both of which I got 60-62 mpg per tank..

On the Dooper the fill-up sign comes up with 8 litres left!

Never had a diesel before, and was advised that whatever you do don't run out, its different to a petrol... It won't just start up by getting some more diesel in a can from the nearest garage...

So I don't get obsessed I've not checked the gauge for a while and even with occasional spirited driving, i.e flat out, I'm still getting 55mpg!. But I think the secret is, is that when you aren't accelerating just get used to peppering the accelerator on downhill parts of a journey.

Speaking to others who have had diesels from new they reckon mpg improves after a few months by a 'bit'..

I bet the new 08 Dooper will prob get about 5 mpg more than the 07 model in the real world..

i am getting 54mpg around town average speed 24mph and 61mpg at 70mph motor driving. Don't let you tank run down to far , as the drooper doesn't have a self bleed system and the fuel system would have to be manually bleed. I do wish that it had a bigger derv tank thou 8 gallons is way to small

Thats exactly what I wanted to hear roll on september keep me upto date plz this could be interesting over the summer see how much Iam spendin over how much everyone else is
