Excellent, now perhaps we could get the MINI USA folks to read, learn and bring it over here.

In a way, what this is really saying is "public awareness of MINI Cooper Diesel benefits extremely lacking".

MINI need Clarkson to do a bit of "Prius bashing" by comparing it to a Cooper D on Top Gear. That would increase awareness all right.

Of course that would be semi-serious motoring journalism so will never make it onto the screen!

Call me an old cynic (moi?) but the article is littered with caveats and get outs, all intended to make the MINI the best of the bunch of 5 cars (and who plumped for those 5, by the way?)

If these metrics are all applied when a super-economical FIAT 500D is available, I predict a different result!

Having got that lot off my chest, I tend to agree with the fact that the Cooper D has not been well pushed by MINI, so they have a way to go there......but at the expense of other economical cars, or at the expense of other MINI models, I wonder?

That's interesting Paul - I guess I read that article with my own point of view in mind - as in, if it's that great why not bring it the heck over to the USA?! Got to keep the faith...because if they don't bring the D here, MINIacs may have to look elsewhere.

The FIAT 500D may well be more economical and possibly have lower emissions (as does the Polo Bluetec), but I'd bet you it'll be a slug...
