5th Gear!

Just in case anyone is interested, 5th Gear next Monday night (C5 8pm) there's a head to head between the Cooper & Cooper D.

Call me biased but I know which I'd go for

I have a Dooper, but I reckon the Cooper will win.. The reasoning behind this is because of the last shootout between a 130bhp Skoda Fabia TDi and a 120bhp 1st gen Cooper. This was really close, with the Skoda just edging it...

Now the new Cooper is quicker and the Skoda is roughly 20 bhp up on our Doopers, draw your own conclusions

Anyway we bought our Doopers for mpg mainly. I hope to be proved wrong of course

Only reason for the Cooper is that the Dooper wasn't out yet. And our MPG doesn't offset the initial outlay of buying the thing.

A dream can only become a reality if you chase it...

Am gonna have to tape it and drool over it several times....what self respecting obsessive compulsive wouldn't

Waiting for my new mini is killing me, am constantly scouring the internet for every small scrap of info that will give me a buzz to offset the fact Ive got to wait 4/5 weeks for my car to arrive. I know its sad but I just cant help myself

Don't worry - me too!

Has anyone got a day-by-day guide of what happens when they build a MINI? I'd happily pay to go and watch it being born!

Why not arrange for a factory visit , I went back in 03 and it was a fantastic day, we visited Oxford in the morning and then went to the plant in the afternoon.

Was just looking on the Fifth gear website. The competition is for a Mini Cooper worth £13k.. So thats that!

I don't think it was a fair test.

Two different drivers without 'normal' driving. I expected them to do the comparison on the track where they drive each car separately and then superimpose the footage to show the difference.

This is why I prefer Top Gear.

They even reckoned at the end that the Dooper will depreciate quicker than a petrol Cooper - I think (and hope) not! They should have got Mr Swift to take each one round the track to give them a fair workout.

Im not surprised the diesel 'lost'. It wasnt 'normal' driving for starters! Tests like that never are 2 different drivers, with different driving styles, of course there will be a difference.

To be honest though, I don't really take anything like that to heart, if everybody listened programmes like that, half the cars on the market wouldnt sell!!

Roll on delivery of my Dooper
